Hello Tampa Tacos, I feel I'm still fairly new to the area, and figured I'd introduce myself. Strictlytoyz sent me a link a while back, and finally came on board.
Anyway, does anyone have a good tire / wheel place they use here in Tampa. I'll be in the market soon for some rubber, and possibly wheels. Thanks for any info.

I recently bought 5 new tires at Midas (off of Fowler Ave.) while they had buy 3 get 1 free sale. As for wheels I am not sure on that.

Hey look who finally made it! Welcome bro! As for wheels and tires I've always just ordered my tires through https://www.discounttiredirect.com/ They usually have decent pricing

Hah! Thanks, I guess you can call me a procrastinator :)
Anyway, I'll def. check it out. I'm looking to get 285's, and am on the fence to bite the bullet and get new wheels with the correct backspacing, OR get spacers. My current 16's won't work.
Any comments on that would be appreciated. I've never ran spacers before, and have read some bad opinions. Spacers would be the easy way out though, and I don't do a ton of rock crawling down here.
If I get new wheels, I was hoping someone like 4WP could confirm the ones I choose will work. Right now, my notes say 16" rims - 4.5 BS / 0mm off set will work for 285-75's.

Nothing wrong with wheel spacers as long as they are properly installed, blue thread locker used, and a torque wrench used to correctly torque them. Only real downside is they are something else you have to remove when you need to pull you brake rotors or drums for maintenance. For that reason, if I could find aluminum wheels I liked with 3.75" BS, I probably wouldn't use them.

Thanks so much for the insight. I didn't think about the brakes, I have done that enough times for sure. I'll def. keep in mind, and keep looking for a cool set of wheels. I still have a little time, and trying to save some $$

used to be more active before Covid. Seems like it'd be more active, but I guess since there's no meets for the foreseeable future everybody is pursuing other interests. :notsure:

I got myself involved in doing a frame up rebuild on a Heep CJ-7. It wouldn't be so bad, but I got cheated out of creative control of the project so it's just going to be a lame pseudo-restoration. Didn't even get to put Toyota axles (or any other decent axles, just the factory D30 and D35) under it. :anonymous: It sux.

Nice! I've been doing some side jobs here and there, but nothing too crazy. Been looking for a little woods truck recently but haven't found anything yet in my price range.

Ball joint spacers and lift blocks, am I doing it right?
I've been riding my mountain bike and working. Haven't done much with the old runner. All the big parts are bought and sitting in the garage.

I'll get it back in the woods one of these days

You're right, COVID seems to have zapped most people and things to do. Lots of things to still do though. Was scrolling through and figured bump an old thread for our area :bananadance:
