Trying to decide between black or tan softopper... Pretty set on selling my shell in favor of the softopper.

In my mind i feel like the tan would compliment the good well, but i just can't quite picture it. Seen tan softoppers and bestops on the darker brown 2nd gen but nothing on a gold first gen.

    Any thoughts or photoshop wizzardry?

Meh, I'm kinda leaning towards keeping my snugtop, and just adding a leaf to my Dakar pack to account for extra weight...

When you first posted, I would have thought it wouldn't look quite right, but that looks good.
I was in a similar position, but different color, with mine, and I went with black to be safe

Um yes, I was very concerned :) i took it out and held up to the truck before installing, in case it looked terrible - that way I could exchange if needed!

In the end, I really like it, which is what counts. Originally I was planning to keep it down unless I needed the cover but... I like it so much, I'll be leaving up and put down when needed.

That would prob work ok, but I have need for the full bed with and without cover pretty regularly. Not sure a cover like that would work.

For one, welcome, can't have enough gold dc around here :) thanks for sharing your photo, black looks good no doubt! Like the black glare protector on the front too. Is that a trail gear rear bumper and custom swing out?

Off topic... I saw your first post was in the 'share your dogs thread' and that is cool too. Cute dog. If we had more land I'd consider an Aussie shepherd like that. Here are my little guys:

I think you'll like the tan, black shows the dirt like crazy. Thanks man yea I love the gold dcs. Took me a year to find mine! The rear bumper was actually fabbed by a guy in my overland group. He did the sliders too. Not a bad job few things I'm changing before I paint it up. So what's next for your gold dc?

I actual live on a city lot so not too much yard. Just have to make sure you exercise them a lot. She has mellowed out a lot this year. Couldn't have asked for a better first dog. Loves riding in the Tacoma! Cute dogs as well! Little jealous you can bring yours to work!

Sweet! Yeah these dc tacos are real hard to find. Luckily mine popped up pretty quick. Would have taken any color if the miles and asthetics were right but gold was one of my top picks :) next mod is likely a rack or bumper. Kind of leaning toward the bumper first. About to pull the trigger on some welding gear, and don't have a 220v hook up, so that might limit my ability to make the rear bumper myself.Thinking of ordering a cbi bumper and then fabbing a swing out for it later on.

Got more pics you can pm of the bumper? I'd like to see how it looks.

Saw your bumpers up for sale, pretty slick. I might be interested, the design looks really nice.

Thanks man, I might tweak the design a little bit more before I build any more, and likely won't do any fab work after this round until the winter when I have more time to think and not trying to get out mountain biking all the time :)

What did you use to chop the bedside down? I for realio may do that when ready for a bumper, makes a lot of sense. I do worry about he edge rusting though.
