Tap into mirror power

Looking to hardwire my Escort 9500ix into the mirror power. I've got the plug with the two pins and can figure out what to do from there. Main issue I'm having is, how do I remove the plastic cover? I've got Auto Dimming and backup cam in the mirror.

I don't understand your "plug with the two pins" reference. I just upgraded to a Gentex GHSHL4 Auto-Dim/Compass/Temp/Backup Camera/Homelink mirror (found in Limited versions of our trucks). The plug for my (original and new) mirrors looks like this and the constant hot wire is as indicated...

I have that same detector. I bought a hardwire kit and put the,"remote" in the cubby on the right side of the steering wheel.

 

It's just a two pin wire that goes into the radar on one end. The pins are shoved into the power wires to draw power. They are literally flat pins.

 

Mine has the telephone rj-11 connector. Both on the coil cord that it came with and the hardwire kit.
