it seem to have stopped, but haven't been on the freeway yet. I live in Phoenix so the duct tape will only last a month at the most with the heat the stuff just melts off. I just used the it as a temp fix till i get back from Vacation when ill get a new rubber guard or just take them off.

Good! My truck is down for a timing belt replacement but I will trace my "rats" down when I get it running again.

If it isn't the speedo cable. There is a tsb to fix most of the dash rattles that occur in Tacoma's. I spent a day with my dash apart, but it is totally silent now

So did the noise boil down to a loose wheel well flap?

I have the same problem with my NEW Tacoma - I am getting a flapping noise coming from my somewhere in my front wheel wall at 60+ miles on the drivers side. I have removed the rubber splash guards, with no luck.

Crank up the Base. First Yota, couldn't afford eco boost so i got a stick 4banger.
    None yet, just got her.
This is what mine sounds like. Sounds like something trying to click on and then off usually around 70 and only at highway speeds
