2011 4.0L V6. So started getting loud tapping noise and found no oil! Anyway, read it might be timing chain issue but I have it down to timing chains off. Should I go ahead ant take the heads off to check the valves?

Loud tapping noise and found no oil? You sure it wasn't a rod knock?

Did you add oil and start it back up?
You got nothing to loose at this point.

Yes. I filled it back up with oil and it still tapped.

In the engine world, You have taps and knocks.
Knocks are always bad, taps aren't always bad.
So, is it a tap or knock?

Where does it sound like it is coming from? The top or bottom of the engine?

    Any video or audio?
