Tariffs and Tacoma sales

Just out of curiosity, How do y’all think the tariffs are going to affect Tacoma sales?

 

Sales or prices?

 

It will make them more expensive is about all anyone can say at this point.

 

It’s hard to know or estimate, since everything changes daily.

 

Good question, price is really what I mean.

 

Well, a lot of parts come from Mexico so I assume things are going to get more expensive just a guess though

 

The price is already too high for what they are so not at all.

Some people are claiming that dealers are tacking on a “tariff” ADM already just to rip morons off.

Car dealers were trying to panic people into buying cars around here before the tariff announcements and some idiots actually fell for it. The local news station ran a story about a guy who needed a car to keep working, real tearjerker until you realized it was a fully loaded WRX.

I’m guessing it’s going to be another one of those global supply chain shortages BS cash grab.

Will someone please think of the billion dollar global corporations?

The 4th gen Tacomas are already significantly overpriced, this will just make it worse and dealers will take advantage of it and further add bullshit mark ups like normal. I have over 200k miles on my 2015, so hopefully I can get another few hundred k miles out of her so I don't have to deal with it. Though, I wouldn't get a 4th gen Tacoma anyway, but the other manufacturers will be playing the same game.

 

I saw a Pro listed for $70k over the weekend had the sports bar and most likely some other accessories there was also a Mudbath listed for $65k. I can't imagine too many people willing to pay over 70k for a Tacoma. Last I heard Toyota was absorbing the tariff.

What I find stupid is shipping components back and forth between the boarder or internationally before the component is installed in the vehicle. Tariffs aside a lot of unnecessary expenses can be cut well before the government gets involved.

When you buy a Toyota where does the money go? Tariffs or NFL sponsorships either way that money is being wasted on something other than an automotive product.

 

I've noticed that some people obsess over possible price increases, which then creates a panic cycle that spreads to other people.

 

This panic can cause prices to increase where they might not have otherwise.
Supply and demand. People often cause what they are trying to avoid.

 

We needed a market reset. We shall see how it shapes.

 

The market will decide how the price goes. Instead of jacking up prices, I heard Ford and Stellantis offers employee discount to public.

They are. And they're pushing how their products are made in the USA. Well, some of them anyways.
