I haven't read through this whole forum yet so I don't know what everyone else is saying but I've had experience with both the Taurus and the Ruger and I'd have to say the Ruger is hands down a superior gun.

My tcp is also a c model. There is a Taurus forum similar to this with several tips on getting the tcp running smooth

The first tip is to get a c model or later

Sig P238 FTW. Just kidding, I have never shot the Taurus but the LCP is super reliable. Kicks like an SOB though

Physics, it's impossible to have a small/light pistol with an adequate amount of energy that doesn't. When I was on duty I tried more than 1 sub compact .40. Those things sucked, but a backup pistol isn't intended for long leisurely range days. Big gun with little bullets, great plinker. Small gun with any bullets, not much fun at all :)

And the 40's failed like crazy, too much oomph in too little packaging. I gave up when 1 pistol turned into 2 pieces after a shot, after a long string of issues. I figure 9mm is about the max a tiny gun can handle for any length of time.

I'm far from a fan of taurus, I own exactly 1 and that's all I ever will own. But the tcp is/was the only one in the class with a lrho which is a requirement for me.

this will be biased, since i worked at ruger and built the LCP for a 3 1/2 years, but i love the gun. im still waiting on buying once, since it will make a great back up to my normal carry weapon (ruger SR40 or SP101, depending on what i'm wearing) sun visors will hold the LCP up no problem, and they fit comfortably in a boot. the trigger pull is kinda ridiculous, but you arent buying the gun for a nice shooting weapon.

Triggers are intentionally heavy and long with pocket pistols. It helps with inadvertent holes in peoples thighs.
