Btw, I was told that with the dakars, you don't need longer bumps. That the 2 overload leafs will protect you from bottoming out the shock

He shouldn't have to extend his bumps with dakars cause of two overloads, but it's not impossible. He just needs a slightly longer shock.

Today, I have vowed that I will never ever ever ever work on an Automatic transmission again. Simple drain and fill? Sure. 4 hours crawling in a gravel driveway to undo 10000000 bolts, beat the drain pan to death to get the gasket to free. Spray and scrub the inside of the pan, wash the 4 magnets.... PAINSTAKINGLY scrap that crappy Toyota liquid gasket off of the pan and apply new (Only 20 freaking dollars a tube...). Take old filter out and clean it, then put it back on, only to shear 1 bolt and have 2 more cross thread.

I was told my tranny would only drain 2-3 quarts, but it puked close to 6. Good thing I bought extra. It shifts so silky smooth now, but I'm also missing 3 bolts and some aren't torqued all the way out of fear of them snapping. I'm having a shop redo to bolts soon, but if it doesn't leak, I'll ride out my crappy job until it needs it again.

Ouch. Sounds rough brother. Get some cardboard/Thermoply or concrete for future work under vehicle. The 6 quarts(just from the pan..) sounds right though that's what I got when I did my full flush. Gotta be super careful with those bolts. Sounds like you could use a magnet tray.. The worst part about when I did mine was everything was perfect but the drain pan bolt stripped and got stuck on the pan. Of course had to be the last bolt. So I knew it wouldn't hold and I smeared a bunch of that toyota black fipg all over te drain plug. It's held for a few months now. Not a drip.

Edit: I forgot to say. I feel you on scrapping that gasket off the pan. Took me an extra hour or two and sucked majorly.

Well, I WAS using a magnet tray. I have no clue where they went or how.

Also, how clean did you get the pan surface? I gave up and left some of the old gasket clinging to the corners.

oh dang.. I got it pretty dang spotless. I'm kind of OCD when it comes to stuff like that haha.. I had these red plastic gasket scrapers from harbor freight that worked good to get most of it off. I can't fully remember but i feel like in the end i was just scraping the last little bits with my thumb nail..

I took mine to a shop for a complete flush. Didn't wanna deal with that lol. Only cost me $180 which included labor, fluid, filter, and gasket

Well, after taking it to a shop to get them to drill out the bolt, they said I needed an entire new pan. That cost me an extra $130. (I was at no room to argue because my dad does business with them). I demanded they give me the old pan when I paid for it. I got home and saw that the magnets were still in the old pan! I called them and they said it was fine, which is just not true. So, I threw a welding magnet on the bottom of the pan for a week and my uncle redid the pan while I was at work one day.

I look under my truck today and what do I see? ATF dripping from the drain plug. So far I've paid for THREE drain and fills of ATF on this truck in a month...

I also believe I have an injector clacking rather loudly.

Transmission pan is no longer leaking; thank goodness. Changed the oil today (in record time) and noticed that the freaking shop that screwed up the transmission job ALSO put one of my skidplates on backwards. How the hell did they manage that?

Driver side is sitting a little low compared to the passenger side. I need to buy those new shackles and have a shop put them on. These leaves are REALLY difficult to deal with.

A spark plug managed to back its way out today. Tightened it back down and a lot of the "ticking" I've been hearing is gone. I guess it's time for plugs and wires soon.

I just found your build. You seem to have paid a lot of attention to my truck at the meet last year hahaha.

Got some OME Greasable shackles from Wheelers for Christmas. Going to get a quote to have them installed soon. I'm excited to get rid of the squeaking and threat of a fiery death from the jury rigged nut I have holding the stock one on now failing at speed.

Got my OME greasable shackles put on today for only $90. The bushings still squeak because I guess I didn't put enough grease around them when I put them in the leaves. I'll post a picture soon. Very happy with them so far.

Also, looking into tire sizes as I think that'll be my next purchase. I need something in a 33, but 10.5 inches wide or less. Any suggestions?
