    lets see, some of the shows we've been to so far this year....

    * Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen - Texas singer/songwriters
    * Esperanza Spalding's Emily D+Evolution - fusion jazz/funk
    * Delfeayo Marsalis and quartet- New Orleans Jazz
    * Mike Marshall and Catrina Lichtenberg - 2 mandolins playing JS Bach etc.
    * Aaron Neville and band - New Orleans Soul/R&B
    * Regina Carter - jazz
    * Galileo's Daughters - baroque

    I know I'm forgetting a bunch.

    Beers? You betcha. IPA, Porters, Stouts, Red Ales, Pilseners, as long as its fresh and not flavored with fuu-fuu adjunts.

    Tacoma - just bought last week, will likely be hauling us to the Strawberry Music Festival Memorial Day weekend, where we'll see Mavis Staples, David Grisman, The Wood Brothers, Tim OBrien, Pokey LaFarge, Darlingside, Sarah Potenza, Paul Cebar, Della Mae, James Hunter, and I dunno how many more.

    having owned multiple vehicles with gas strut hoods, vs spring loaded scissor hinge hoods, vs hood prop sticks, I'll take the 1980s mercedes/volvo style spring loaded hinges, which have a 'service position' which locks the hood straight up..

    the gas struts are nice enough when new, but a few years of hot/cold weather, and the pookah seeps out, and you have to replace the struts. but who knows, maybe the ones you're getting aren't like the Stabilus I've had.

    I've heard good things about them. Time will tell. $52 bucks plus shipping and a 4 year warranty. Not a bad deal.

    tonight's beer was a bomber of North Coast Brewing's Stellar IPA.

    and I watched a couple long sets on youtube of a 'jam band' I'd never heard of, the Golden Gate Wingmen, after my daughter told me she was 'merching' (running the CD and tshirt table) for them tonight at their show at the brewpub in town where she goes to U (3rd year Geosciences major). Not bad, was well played dead-head music, without the sloppy rhythmic screwups that the real dead were notorious for.

    I second that OG Dead rhythmic screw-up notation. Although when you're just a bit deep enough into the rabbit hole it's forgiven.

    I was never a dead head... my favorite band back in teh late 60s was the Jefferson Airplane.. Quicksilver Messenger Service was right behind them.

    my favorite Jerry Garcia stuff is the bluegrassy stuff he did late in his life with David Grisman. The Pizza Tapes is an awesome release.

    Too poor to list anything interesting.
    Got invited to a happy hour at a new brewery that's 7 minutes away from the house.

    And they have old arcade games there. Last time I was there, I spent an hour playing the Simpsons.

    I haven't had a beer in 6 days.
    I've been very sick with Strep this week. It's killing me.

    As soon as I'm better I'm going out to get me some Batch 19. I've been in the mood lately.
    Just got back from WI and have a 12-pack of Leinie Original in the fridge too.
