Hi, I've been lurking around tacomaworld for a few months learning about my truck. Big thanks to everyone who contributes to this Web site.

So I have the famous TC shudder problem. I followed the steps thats some people suggested here.
    - did the break tap test. It worked. Everything is consistent with the TC being the problem. not the driveline.

-I flushed my trans oil out using the rad inlet pipe as the outlet. Flushed it multiple times until the oil was clean. Cleaned the pan' magnets, filter.. No luck. Still shudders the same.

    - I dumped a 10oz bottle of platinum lubeguard in there as suggested by gearcruncher. No luck.. still shudders the same.

My question is what would you guys suggest at this point?
I could keep driving it and avoiding OD unless at high speeds which dosent trigger the shudder and gear hunting jazz. Hope it will last a few more years.

I could dump a bottle of instant shudder fix in it but im affraid of putting too much friction modifier in the oil.

I could get all surgical and open the beast up to play with that TC lock adjustment screw.. carefully.. anyone had any luck with that?

How long can a tranny last with a TC problem.. ?
If anyone has gone further down the TC shudder path I would love some advice.

    It's a 2008 4L trd double cab

    Thanks!

I’m not saying there isn’t something wrong with your tc but imo if the engine isn’t running well that can maybe manifest into what “feels” like something else. The engine has got to run well. Take this for what it’s worth (and @LeakyAC is gonna love this) I would buy new plugs and new ignition msd or standard blue streak coils and take it from there. Good luck!
