How's the ride after the install, compared to stock?

Your bolt should go the other way so that if it becomes loose it won't work it's way out.

    Great work though and congrats!

He cut the other bolt so he wouldn’t have to bend the sheet metal. Unless he bends it now, that’s the only way the bolt it going in. Hopefully he used some thread locker for extra insurance.

Red Thread locker. That bolt is a pita on the passenger side. Nice upgrade op.

You can get those bolts in and out of 2nd gens all day long. Takes a little persuasion, but it's doable. I've done it many a times. 3rd gens you have to cut the bolt.

Either way, looks great and hope the OP likes them. It's just insurance, not function.

I’ll be doing this later today. You have any advice other than what I’ve heard about bending the sheet metal out of the way to slide the bolt out?

Bring a hammer and a couple beers. The sheet metal is just the inner fender well. It's not a huge ordeal but I haven't found a way around it.

Bending the sheet metal compromises the strength, so depending how hard you wheel it can become an issue. I can't remember who it was on here, but he did higher speed long travel stuff, and the seam was starting to separate where he bent it. New nuts and bolts are ~$24 or so, which is why I'm going to cut mine out and install backwards with red loctite in the next few weeks.

This was my plan as well, bought my UCAs used and they came with bolts. Was gonna do thread locker so they don’t come off.

I think you may be referring to the pinch weld. That's an issue because it compromises the seam where the fender meets. The UCA sheet metal doesn't compromise anything. You don't bend it but enough for the bolt head to pass.

Nope, I'm certain it was the sheet metal from UCA installation. Maybe "separate" isn't the right terminology, but on the drivers side bad things started happening from the extra weight of the battery over there.

Get a hammer and a punch tool to push the old bolt out. It wasn’t bad at all on the 3rd gen. Helps if you have someone to help guide the bolt. I had to only bend the sheet metal a little with someone guiding it. Use some flat wood pieces about 3” long to sandwich the sheet metal, I had some paint stir sticks cut, and then some pliers to bend it and hold while another person hammers it out. And of course put the bolt in the correct position after UCA install. Here’s mine.

Yup! Exactly that bolt was a bit difficult to remove , specially for the passenger side, I’m gonna double check on all bolts to make sure nothings loose and re torque, but this way for future if bushings ever need to be replaced or anything it’s not difficult for me to take apart And don’t have to worry on bending sheet metal.
