i learned on an old 89 yota pickup. let them let out the clutch till it suddenly dies. then tell them to slowly add gas. if they dont know about the tach then they will be fine. i got an 03 now with a tach, but i never look at it. i can tell by feel when it needs to be shifted. its all about feel. take them to a empty parking lot or something where they can jump it without worries of other cars. then make them do it on an uphill

Yeah....yeah:D lol To be honest the thought of getting a rental never crossed my mind i figured the only way was to use my truck. I'm only 20 so i've never dealt with renting a car, however i could pay the 50 bucks or whatever it cost and have no worries about my clutch slipping or grinding.

i found the easiest way to explain, is to have them keep the engine steady at 2-3k rpms, then slowly release the clutch so they can feel it catch and move the truck. after getting out of first gear, they wont have any problems, except for a jerky 2nd gear....hope that helps

rent a manual. i remember when my father taught me how to drive a stick. it was in a 93 Corolla. IDK wat it is wit my family and toyotas haha. Anyways it didn't take me very long to learn how to be able to manuver the car. The next manual that came to the drive way was the 99 Tacoma i have now. To make a long story short, that truck has 125,999 miles on it and its still goin on the original clutch. to teach some one how to drive a manual always go rental. Thats is how i taught my mom and my sister and my brother how to drive a stick.
