Clear Lake Rd to the beach area is crossover-friendly. Folks tow trailers there with Highlanders and Honda Pilots all the time to the boat launch at Bolger Lake. Beyond that, you're more likely to be clearance-limited than traction-limited. For a Highlander with no skid plates, oil pan and fuel tank are fair game. Bring $1000 cash for the tow bill back to Toronto if you kill your car there  Though it would be less if you get it towed to pavement and call CAA.

Is any wood fine? A friend can donate some but they're off cuts from a lumber mill. Non pressure treated

I just worry about the insects from one place to another. (ie; emerald ash borer) generally most lumber yard stuff has been treated in some way shape or form (steam cleaned or dried out) so it should be fine.
stuff like pressure treated 4x4 for outdoor posts (i dont recall if it still is) has some level of toxic shit when burned, but it's so minute it doesn't matter in the context of a camp fire.

Why fan it when you can just blow it?
