Hi everyone, new member here. Learned about SOTEC at Drive Festival this September and this event was recommended for the first timers. We don't have much experience on trails and our 4Runner is still mostly stock (just swapped OEM tires for Wildpeak AT3W), but we would like to join. If nothing changes we were planning to come Friday evening, we are coming from Kitchener-Waterloo.

    Few questions:
    - getting there — is it relatively straightforward to get to the place or should we try and meet up with someone on the way there?
    - firewood — must we bring additional firewood and where is the best place to get it from? (don't want to move firewood from far due to pests)

As for cleanup team... I guess green.

    Hey 4wdmoose, welcome.
I'll let management answer the questions lol.
You'll have a great time and just so you know our Tacoma's always get put to shame by 4 runners namely caygeonrunner. It's all good though as we get stuck on purpose hahaha. Cause we're humble.

Hey man! Pretty easy to get in. Bring firewood if you like, not expected at all. We just usually have a communal fire…. a certain @Norilsk usually likes them big so we always go overkill with that . You can grab firewood at a multitude of places in parry sound, and that’s 30ish km away from ardbeg, so pest transfer isn’t a worry. It’s also directly on the way, so easy to find firewood. You can also bring a saw and hack down some dead trees if you want to save space lol.

I’m pretty sure I remember talking to you at drivefest, stoked you’re making it out. I personally convoyed up my first time, it just makes it less stressful imo. We have a bunch of members out that way, @tacoma16 is from roughly that way, but I’m sure a few more people will chime in if you’re looking for someone to tag team up with.

The road into the campsite is easy enough that I took my gfs Nissan versa down it, if that eases your nerves lol.

I’m out in Cambridge but I’ll be leaving Saturday. @norlisk is probably going to be leaving Elora Friday evening as well and may be good to convoy with.

if you change your mind about when you are going, let me know.

also the trail is stock friendly, but can be intimidating for new people, especially at night. Definitely possible as the main entrance people bring cars and trailers down. But like I said, can be intimidating.

Yeah you'll be super comfortable. No issues unless you have the limited one with the air dam, thejb you'll still clear everything just fine!

Im in Hammer town, i plan to leave 6pm ish and takes about 4 hours to get there. We can do a convoy meetup at king city onroute for like 7:30pm to roll in

We've all tasted diesel, we've all tasted antifreeze...

This is a traditional fall ardbeg staple... @Norilsk Evgeny....is this included or do I need to donate? Pls advise

Glad to see you are able to make it out!

As mentioned before, easiest thing is to make it with someone that has been there before, but if you follow the dirt road in to the GPS coordinates provided you will be just fine. I suggest airing down at the logging station to make your ride smoother.

    Hey guys,

Martin does not want to arrive at campsite by midnight and he is taking half a day off.

So I will do the south trail with him on the way up, leaving after 1pm.
Does anyone know if we can open and close the gate half way thru the bunny trail?

Bdw, I think this was an awesome idea, first we focus on the cleaning, then we go party.
