Ha! Family day...the railroad doesn't recognize that one...they don't want us to have any kind of connection with our family.
Just work all the fucking time.
    Sorry venting!

What did you do for them? We contract them out to do rail analysis, grinding and inspection in yards and main lines.

I did rail health inspection for short time, but lifestyle and living constantly in hotels, along with a bit of sketchy pay that was changed without notice made me move back. Have my certificates to work on CN or CP, so can always go back to work. It was good experience. But I like more permanent near home and my taco job.:burnrubber:

I hear you. :( I missed a club event once because I had vacation booked to blast through the Egyptian desert in 70-series Land Cruisers...

Hi guys, besides the light blue trail on this picture, is there anywhere else where can winter wheel in the region or Mattawa/Northbay?

I would assume we could do the whole gravel road around VMUTS too? anything else?

    tks

The gravel road I am guessing you are referring to the access road I posted about. That is olrig road on the map, the longest colored section. It should be colored from one end to the other.

It is a road, so you can use the entire thing, from highway 63 to highway 533 all year around. It is a fire access road for connecting these highways.

It takes about 45 minutes or a bit more at 60KM/h to go from one end to the other.

Trail #93 that they opened for us this year took me and my buddy 7.5 hours from leaving home to getting back home to complete, going one direction. It is pretty challenging.

The issue with anywhere else you want to access is snow banks. They can be over 4 feet tall and solid ice, very difficult to cut through even with a few guys and shovels. Almost impossible to get over some of them as you will get high centered. Winch can do it but you are pulling all the way over and threw the bank.

I hope this long winded answers a bit of your question.

Alright, so those 3 sections, the road 63, the new 93# trail plus the trail from last year, should be good for 2 full days of wheeling...

Trail #93 will be different depending on the direction you go on it. We have only done it 1 way so far.

I do know another trail that could be very very hard, depending on snow amount we have. Requires getting over a snow bank. Could easily spend an entire day on this trail. The snow bank is at the dead end of a road, so parking is easy and do-able for this snow bank. Its not the side of a highway. Attacking this snow bank is an option.

This is the bank last year January 20th.
