Thanks bro, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Similar to what I saw on @Windigo 's pfp. The ones in that link are priced kinda steep :pout:. At least I know what I'm looking for though, so I can keep a lookout.

Edit: @Saturnine those looked pretty sweet man. So the product is known as "0 degree sliders" across all brands? I'll be combing through kiji amd market place lol.

PS if anybody is selling a set.... DCLB ;)

    0° is 0°

Most do 0°, 15°, 20° but 20° is essentially tucked up to the body line

the OEM side steps/ nerf steps like so:
    upload_2023-2-13_20-37-56.jpg
will do more damage to your truck than if you had simply taken them off. unfortunately i dont know what you have on but side steps and sliders are 2 different things.
Side steps are just that, enough structural rigidity to let a 400lb gorilla step onto them to get into the vehicle.
Slides on the other hand try to be as structurally part of the trucks frame (in terms of mounting and support braces) that it can (and should) be able to support the entire weight of the truck while on them. so instead of lifting the truck from the jack point, you can use them.

Material wise: Nerf bars and the OEM steps are anywhere between light-duty steel to aluminum and will tear off the truck if hit incorrectly.
Sliders are generally DOM (Drawn on Mandrel) steel tube which has a higher yield strength. these are meant to take a beating.

this guy has a decent explanation and shows the 2nd gen running boards vs a 3rd gen with sliders.

Welcome to the club. most of the stuff out on the market is in the US.
So USA Price + shipping fees + border fees + more logistic fees + ticketmaster fee = waaaay out of our budget.
there are a few places here in Canada THAT YOU CAN FIND HERE ON POST ONE

@MaverickT883 recently bought some off some guy, dont recall who, but they seem bomber. i think he's a Kay-becker.
otherwise, there is Overlandoutfitters that import stuff from the US so you can cheese around the border fees, but as you found out above, it's expensive asf.

Look all you'd like on kijiji or what have you, it does show up time to time, but i wouldn't get your hopes up. but there is a buy/sell/trade section for Canada here; https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/buy-sell-trade-canada.137/

if you have a buddy, a welder, a case of beer,
you can use this DIY guide:

The guy I bought off of. A newer Canadian startup company. His lead times are 3-4 weeks, which is super low for sliders (I think cali-raised is 8-10 weeks, don’t quote me on that). He’s extremely pleasant and easy to work with. He’s based out of a town near Montreal. Super cool dude. I picked them up right from his shop, and he also offers shipping. I will 100000% recommend him to anyone, best customer service I’ve had in a long time.

Thanks for the detailed response. I am familiar with how the 2 are different and why, was just wondering if there was a "hybrid" of sorts, like steel steps that bolt to the frame. What the boys mentioned above, 0° sliders seem perfect.

I currently have shitty aluminum tube running boards. Already bent up one of them a little. Dont much care for them and will be replacing them as soon as I find/ get those sliders. So... do you really think they would act as a damage multiplier and worth taking off before this event? They arent literal "steps" so wont get caught on anything, and I've got a pretty significant lift as well.

Also I have someone fabricating a front bumper for me right now. It's a side project for him so it may be quite a few weekends before it's finished, but afterwards comes the rear bumper, and I already brought up the idea of running boards that bolt to the frame (ie 0° sliders), so thank you very much for that link. I'm sure he'll find it extremely helpful when that time comes.:hattip:

Yeah @Shveet may have a point- if they get caught on something they may get flung up into your door. I’d recommend taking them off.

I've heard stories of the front clip tearing off and imbedding itself into the ground while the rear clip is still attached and then that all get shoved backwards damaging the cab/ bed. I've also seen them get shoved/ bent and against the cab. By removing them, you're only gaining 2-3" of clearance but if that 2-3" doesn't touch the rocker then you have a smaller change of it doing anything negative.
Mind you, that's only my stance on the topic, it is by no means law and 100% fact. take it with a grain of salt as modern nerf bars arn't plastic bits but have some level of strength still to it. just not as much as if you did this:
    https://youtube.com/shorts/DXG5TSiPiyA?feature=share
granted, the only place you'd be doing something like this is on some offshoot trails at Ardbeg. also that's an RC car, so take everything with a grain of salt the size of them wheels.

IMO, if it's easy enough to take off for a day or two, go for it. if you can't be assed - then just send it.
