Tech PKG?

I'm in the process of looking for a new Tacoma to replace my 2001 Tacoma Limited. I would like to get some feedback regarding the "Tech Package". As I get older, I'm starting to think I need all the help I can get when backing up with a camper shell. How many of y'all rely on your backup sensor to help you while backing up?

 

All the time. Just remember to regularly clean backup camera lens

 

Backup sensor not so much because the camera is there , but the cross traffic alert with a camper shell is great and well worth it to me .

 

As a side benefit lining up to a trailer hitch is nice too.

 

Radar cruise control and all the little sensors are great.

 

A 3rd Gen Tacoma is going to be longer and wider than your 2001. I would recommend the Tech Package. Parking assist, BSM and backup camera will all help adjusting to the larger size. My Wife loves the heated seats which came with my 2016.

 

I was thinking that it was worth it but wanted to everyone's feedback. All those features will be a little overwhelming compared to my current truck. I figured I should splurge and get all the bells and whistle since I keep trucks for a long time.

 

Yeah! My wife said I have to get heated seats and a sunroof since that is what she has on her Subaru Outback. You have to do what the wife says!

 

Back up camera/sensor: Never use it.
BSM: Turned it off. Properly adjusted mirrors = no blind spot.
Wireless Charger: Not compatible, can't use it.

If I had purchased new I would not have gotten the tech package.

 

For my 2018, I believe it was a $700 upgrade to the overall MSRP. Worth every penny in my opinion.

 

Looks like you have to go Premium Package as well if you want heated seats

 

I wanted the premium package, not so much the tech package but both came on the TRD Sport I wanted/purchased. Now I'm VERY GLAD I got the tech package.

 

After having a backup camera I don't think I'll ever buy another vehicle without one

 

I think the Backup Camera is required to be standard equipment by Federal Regulations.

Cross traffic. love the little lights that tell me no don't go.
Charger? They have adapters for everything

 

It can be helpful when trying to back out of a space where there is a high profile vehicle parked next to you.
