Technical Questions on 2019 Tacoma SR5 4-Door [not TRD models]

I am still salivating over the 2019 quicksand Tacoma 4-door SR5! I already know that if I do buy one, I am going to get one of those after-market grills that make it look like the TRD Pro, as well as I will get an aftermarket blackout kit to black out the chrome badges. I will also get some black wheels, although the exact ones are to be determined as I am still looking! But, there are some other issues that have come up, and I am wondering about, of a technical nature. Here are my questions below:

1: The SR5 models come with the Toyota Entune radio, but only the upper models come with Entune Premium Plus, which has the self-contained GPS system instead of the basic model Entune in which one has to use their smartphone in order to use the GPS system, which seems to suck, to me! My question is, is it simply a matter of switching out the radio itself, for one that is a premium Plus unit, or is there more involved than that?

2: On some of the other models of Tacoma, they come with side mirrors that have built-in turn signal indicators. I know I can get these side mirrors with turn signal indicators as aftermarket accessories, but I was wondering it the WIRING inside of where the side mirrors mount, for use with turn signal indicator side mirrors, is already there, even on models that come without side mirrors with turn signal indicators?

3: Related to question 2, I also notice that some models of tacoma come with front headlights that have built-in LED running light trim around the front headlights, so again, if I was to get aftermarket replacement headlights with this LED trim built-in, is the wiring already in place on the SR5 that is not TRD, for this easy switchout?

4: Does anyone know of an aftermarket gas DOOR lock that will fit on the tacomas, since they no longer come with a door lock? [And don't tell me to get a lockable gas cap!]

Thanks for input on this! I still have my 1996 Tacoma Extended Cab, which is in perfect original condition, but man, I really want a 2019 quicksand Tacoma 4-door! Much appreciated!

    1. I' had my truck just over a month and have used the built-in nav exactly zero times. For me, Google Maps with live traffic is the only way to go.
    2. No comment. Wasn't aware some models didn't have the mirror blinkers.
    3. The LEDs are daytime running lights. If your truck has daytime running lights, then it will be plug n play.
    4. Not aware of any. Been running a Stant locking cap. It's sold in Canada as a Toyota dealer accessory. So you were planning to drill a hole in the fuel door to install a lock?

I have a SR5. Here are some answers:
    1. The SR5 comes with the "non- built in NAV radio. I am not sure if you can order the one with a already built in upgraded nav? I swapped mine out for the better system -it is not hard but you must buy a different dash part -EXPENSIVE. So it can be done -wiring is a direct swap but the dash part is the biggie here. Several have done this swap read my past posts and you will find my posts about same. For me the radio swap was worth the trouble, but I WAS able to sell my old parts -the radio and the leftover dash part.
    2. I also looked into swapping out the mirrors -- The wiring IS NOT present in the SR5's according to some experts here on this site -I abandoned this idea
    3. I have looked into swapping out the headlamps as well -once again the wiring IS NOT in place in the SR5's (for the LED halo lights), so this is not a simple swap.

    Hope this helps

You CAN get an SR5 with Entune Premium with integrated navigation. I just got mine, and love it. It's called the SR5 sonar parking and navigation package. $755 option. Well worth it to me.

the upgraded head unit was an option on the sr5 on the 16 and 17s. i'm not sure about beyond that. it was part of the package that added the parking sensors.

IMO, if you want built in navigation, turn signals in the mirrors, and LED DRLs, get a sport. The price of the sport upgrade is probably about the same (or a little more) as it would be to upgrade those items in an SR5. And you get a warranty and all the other goodies.
The locking gas filler door, well that's another story.

Tullie D; I am looking into your comment about that option. That seems like a great deal! And
BBPSR54X4; I was just informed about TRDs yesterday, regarding your comment, so now it basically means I am more confused than ever! Dang Toyota makes it really difficult with so many variants of the Tacoma! Thanks guys, for all your help! Much appreciated!
