I thought buying this cable on Amazon and getting what is likely a cracked version of TechStream would allow me to disable things like seatbelt nag beeps. I know Carista does this, but I'm used to running USB interfaces to laptops for any vehicle I had in the past that supported this (older BMW e46, Subaru BRZ, etc). I figured I'd bite the bullet and just buy the interface as it would allow me to do more than Carista does in the long run.

Come to find out, TechStream vehicle selector does not go all the way to 2024 (yet? or maybe becasue it's bootleg?). Asked the guy, and got this:

Does anyone have experience with using TechStream on their newer models? Obviously don't want to brick my ECU.

There are other posts here and on Tacoma4G where people had no issue as long as they were using non bootlegged software. Supposedly you can rent a European license for a week for under $10.

Trusting bootlegged software on a vehicle ECU... That's a lot of trust that a nefarious software didn't encode nefarious actions into itself.

TS will still work for most of the custom setting options. It will NOT read any of the ECUs for diagnostics on the 4GT, as it's a new generation of ECUs and the cracked version of TS floating around stops at the 2nd generation of ECUs.

Set the year to the newest available in your version and connect to the vehicle. Doesn't really matter what engine you choose, since you won't be able to talk to the engine ECU anyway. I was able to adjust a number of settings on my 2025 hybrid, including disabling seat belt chimes and enabling key fob/door lock cylinder window controls.

Finally got around to this, but couldn't find the seat chime. I was able to disable the "rear seat reminder function" but can't find anything under warnings for the seatbelts. Given your advice (that engine etc doesn;t matter) I even tried looking under the 2023 Rav 4 HV, 2023 Tundra HEV, and 2023 4 Runner modules, but found nothing.

Most Warning sections looked like this:

    and many are just blank:

I'm curious what model you selected? I'm returning this cable to Amazon, but have a few days to drop it off. I may just bite the bullet and get a Carista :(

Running Ver 18.00.008 if that matters?

I'm using v18 as well. Set the vehicle to a 2023 Tacoma with smart key and radar cruise and 2.7L 4 cylinder engine. Those settings seemed closest to what I was actually connecting to.

I don't recall which menu had the front seat belt warnings, but it was NOT the same menu as the rear ones. I just clicked into each option and reviewed the settings one at a time. I stumbled across the seat belt warnings that way. Same for the power window up/down using the key or FOB options.

Hm, I've gone through every menu (for multiple models) and can't find it. Will report back if I find the fix for everyone else, thanks anyway!
