ah lol, I've had that problem before with a different truck, attached the line to a tree, had my remote with me, put in reverse, and started to try and unwind with pressure. Don't think its the safest way but it worked. Though I did replace the line a year later because it was starting to fray.

You can switch to synthetic BUT, IMO... steel line is the way to go. Synthetic line is high maintenance

Mine was synthetic, and I went with synthetic. I truly don't know. I love synthetic though more than metal.

Synthetic line is also way more 'spensive, you have to wash it all the time, you have to be careful not to leave it exposed to sun for long periods of time. The biggest reason I hate it though is you have to be careful about it chaffing on rocks. My steel line can drag over rocks, sit in the sun all the time, and never have issues.

Let's see picture's of your rigs. I don't know what everyone drives and I'm too lazy to click through build links.

If a synthetic snaps will it fly back and hit the truck though?

Absolutely. There is LESS of a chance of it flying if you're not using a winch blanket, but I've seen Synthetic line snap and go flying. On the flipside, I've NEVER seen a steel line snap and go flying IF you're using a winch blanket. Even when I spool my line in against a tree, I always throw my winch blanket on.

Too many people put synthetic line on, go use it without a weight, it snaps and they get hurt. Not to mention the hook is the same no matter what you're using, and that can go flying too.

It could but it wont do much damage, its a lot lighter than metal so it doesn't have as much momentum even though it has almost equal potential energy while stretching.
