Started out where i would get a warning about a "Short to Battery, no brakes" on the controller, now it thinks that there is a trailer connected when there isnt. I saw on some Chevy forum that people were getting the "short to battery" warning when it rains, but they didnt say anything about the controller thinking there was a trailer connected when there wasnt...

I am in MN, and it's been shitty raining (should be snowing) pretty much every day. Anyone ran into this?

I'd installed a trailer connector on my motor home that had LED's built in for all the circuits so you could get an instant visual even before connecting the trailer. Unfortunately, the infinitesimal amount of power the LED's took was enough to fool the controller into thinking the trailer was connected. I tried another (brand) controller with the same results. I ended up pulling the LED's out of the connector. (Probably could have left the ones in for the light circuits.) Haven't had water get into the connector before, but I can certainly believe it could cause these problems.

Anyone wondering the resolution to this, it was the trailer harness itself. Corroded and rusted out beyond belief. Wired up a new one (10 bucks at Napa) and all is well! The location of the harness allows salt and rain to go in the connector, and it really wasnt sealed or anything.
