The Tekonsha P3: A hideous looking brake controller that is very simple to use :)

Hi all, I know there are several threads about this but I'm not clear on one thing. The kit came with two mounting brackets, one plastic "pocket" mounting bracket and a metal one. I have seen 300 posts about people mounting this thing in the cubby hole, replacing the cubby hole with a 30 dollar piece of plastic or just picking a spot and mounting the thing. My question is, do you all leave it hooked up year round even when you're not towing or do you d/c and stow it away? I think it would be easier just to leave it hooked up, but if its flashing "No trailer connected!" all the time when I am not towing that's going to get annoying. What do other P3 owners do? Thanks all!

I just leave mine hooked up. I used the metal bracket to mount beneath the fuse panel near the driver's left knee...so far so good, no issues.

Air Lift kit, Trailer Brake Module,
New member just happen to be installing the P3 center dash near the cubby between the cigarette lighter and the D/C power outlet. Now my challenge is to hide the wiring harness yet have enough length to plug in over just beyond the emergency brake pedal. Any suggestions?
