Im using the P3 with my Jayco 19' trailer (4000lb dry weight) trailer. Works well for me. I have a Doublecab 4.0L Prerunner Tacoma. This is my first brake controller so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but its easy to set-up, and seems to work well.

Hows the truck pull the trailer? Gas milage? Is there a harness for the controller already installed?

If you have the factory towing package.

I dont have the factory tow package, I installed a hitch, trans cooler, wiring and brake controller. Got all the stuff from etrailer and they have some pretty good videos that walk you through installation. I have a 4.0L Doublecab PreRunner TRD, and installed a 3" lift with 295 tires. When pulling the trailer, it did ok...struggled up hills. I live in San Diego and tow up the coast, and its pretty hilly. Anyways, I ended up regearing to 4.56 and it tows much better now.

Oh, the tacoma without the towpackage did not have the harness, I had to wire it all in (tied into the brake line and power from the battery), but it was pretty simple.
