Agree. I do thing some mechanics use the "calibrated eye ball" sometimes, and so be it if they do. At the end of the day, it should have been done right from the start.

I hear you. I am just curious about this sleeve aspect & totally relying on it as opposed to a combo. Furthermore, I paid this guy money. I'd like to get some/all of it back. I will most likely do it myself. He dealt with the bolts, which is the reason I put "some" regarding the money. & thanks for the offer. As much as I'd love a road trip from Mass to Texas, probably not a good idea with truck as is. ;)

Just wanted to be a good, hospitable neighbor and throw the offer out there. I'm a Houstonian so I'll always try to help anyone that needs help with whatever I have.

If you do decide to do it yourself, I'll be happy to help in any way I can. You've got a couple here that can definitely get you through it.

It's honestly not that hard of a job- just make sure you get all the bolts loosened up before you stick the 2 x 4 under the truck and start lifting the body. That's key.

So next question - The correct mount is in position 2 (like that? no more "middle") driver's side. There still is not much clearance from cab to frame. I have compared it to other same year tacos that have the standard mounts. Should this improve with the correct mount in position 3? Can I flip these? Or somewhere in my internet travels regarding this mount install turned install, uninstall, install, I came upon a custom make parts lift dude. I can get a couple of 1/2 spacer blocks. Not high enough to start messing with other stuff. I think that's at one inch....
Input? I'd have to order the blocks. Think he's a week out on easier stuff like this.
Or if flipping them is preferable, is there a thread anyone knows of off hand? If not, I am sure I can figure out my way around here....

Just realized I can edit.... Yup....

Honestly, I didn't disconnect the ABS. I DID disconnect the negative battery terminal to not have any sort of inadvertent air bag deployment issues.

If it were me, I'd take one whole side out, look at that instructions sheet and parts diagram, see if I could get them together correctly, and then install them the RIGHT way (with proper torque settings).

Torquing the nuts is the very last step- because you'll need the opposite side (to whatever side you start on) to be be loose so you could do the same- lift cab, pull out, fight right way, re-install.

I promise it's way easier than it sounds reading that.

P.S. Working on avatar- will have fixed for you momentarily.

You feel good about this? I can take some pics of my truck ('02 XTRA Cab, 4x4 TRD OR) when I get home and show you what the clearance looks like if that would help.

    Is your truck your DD?

If it is a DD, I'd get started on Friday after work just to make sure you have the time. With new bolts on there, it shouldn't be too hard to get them off. Also, you don't need jack stands- you just need a jack and a 2 x 4 big enough to lift the body off the frame once everything is loosened up.

After having done this once, I think I could do the whole thing in a couple hours. Not a hard job.

@Ryan_3TacosIn - Don't know if you saw this. I did reply, but I think something misfired cuz it didn't put the box around the quote.... yup.... Not pushin' on the pix. Just didn't want you thinkin' I was dissin' the offer.... K. Shutting up now.... well, for now....

    Yes. It is my DD.
& if it's not too much trouble (although I suppose you wouldn't have offered if it was), pics can only help. Thank you!
It doesn't look that difficult as long as one is paying attention. However I am one of those who thinks this way & two day later & a bunch of runs to the auto parts store.... I like to call it a positive attitude that seems to conveniently regenerate regardless of the setbacks.... It's always an adventure....

@Kristi with a K according to the instructions @36tacundra posted it would seem that all the bushings are of different height. hence the different numbers associated with them.

the mechanic probably put the wrong ones with other wrong ones and that is causing the height difference. as some of them are also "squished" it seems to confirm this conclusion.

If you feel so inclined take it back and either have them/him/her/it fix the problem or ask for the money back. They clearly did not follow the included diagrams that an 8-year old could read.

take the picture from here and have them remove the mounts and verify each # part is in the correct position if you go to them for the fix.
