ok so i got an 01 sr5 2.7 reg cab 2x4 6 lug. is this a "prerunner"? this 6 or 5 lug thing is new to me, bought the truck a few months back and dont know alot about these trucks other than i love this one. the truck has the fender flares and is lifted a bit compared to other 2x4s i see. what about the rearend? would this be an 8 or 8.4? how would i tell diff looking underneath? i havnt really got on it but im pretty sure its an open rearend. does this make sense? thx for the help.

Yes, it is a prerunner. I have an 01 too that I had for the last 6 years with no issues at all. Great truck.

as said above, it's a prerunner. However it does not have the locking diff because it does not have the TRD package.

    prerunner for sure.

6 lug 2wd=prerunner (same everything as a 4x4 besides the 4wd, same suspension.)
    5lug 2wd=normal small 2wd truck
