I've had the pleasure of driving a ridgeline quite a bit, towed with one etc. They are very nice trucks. The thing that sucks about the ridgeline is it has 0 offroad capability: no clearance mainly. If you stay on the pavement the ridgeline is a fine vehicle.

Main reason why I would choose the Prerunner over the RL is because the prerunner's greater ride-height. This is just my prediction also: The prerunner is going to last a hell of a lot longer.

2 completely different animals.....My dad has a '08 Ridgeline and abuses it the way a 79 year old can BUT it takes it....The Pilot he traded towards it had 50k plus and he got the deal he wanted....The Honda V-6 will handle any towing job a Taco can ( I hauled his 26' Grady White;Bath Maine to Ft Myers,Florida twin axle trailer without batting an eye;))...

Now me, I love my Taco's plus drive and work in those areas my dad will not,so yes Toyota makes a great "TOY" TRUCK......but to round trip NH to Ft.Myers..it would be a toss up.....

    Snoope back quiet

p.s. pulling that boat the Pilot avg 15 mpg in OD most of the trip,CT( snow) and GA ( traffic) proved to be the only places it needed to be in direct...and moving it around in Ft.Myers,I grab the Ridgeline instead if the F-150 everytime;)

    That's a great comparison...Stock ridgeline vs. Modified Tacoma.

wow you must really dislike Honda if you would rather have rust on a 1 yr old truck, and 16 mpg in the city sucks for a 4wd truck

commenting on paintdiddys comments about his tacoma: i have a 08 Prerunner 2wd get 20 with mixed driving, less city but the OP said his ridgeline was getting 16mpg, i have no rust on my frame and have not heard many people complain about rust on the newer model trucks, the taco has a fun factor, that the ridgeline cant touch

The only person I know who had a Ridgeline was my mother, if that tells you anything.

It drives quite nicely on the road/interstate, and it does some pretty slick tricks (which you've already noted), but it's not a truck.

I guess I'm really not adding anything to the discussion. I enjoyed driving the RL while my mom had it, but I never would have purchased one for myself... b/c I wanted a truck.

Well put! lol. But honestly I could care less what other people think about me or what I drive.

I stayed away from a RL because I care about what I would think of myself if I drove one as my DD

I think what everybody is getting at is:
Ridgeline: City towing, everyday driver, no off-roading
Tacoma: City Towing/Off-Road towing, everyday driver (it has a really nice ride), handles any trail you throw at it

Main difference: off-roading, if you want to then get the Tacoma, otherwise pavement for you.

Everything else: they're really just two different vehicles. Albeit one is a real truck and one is basically a car.

Search "honda ridgeline articulation" on google...notice anything?
Now search "tacoma articulation"...third picture, first row:

You say looks have no bearing. I disagree. This thing has NOT grown on me what-so-ever. Please let me explain.
Rear Bumper... there is none. It's attached to the truck. So forget about replacing just the rear bumper if your hit from behind.
What's with the tailgate not being flush with the side rear quarter panels.
You can't really modify a Ridgeline for off-roading. It doesn't even look off-road ready.
Unibody construction is meant for SUV's not Full-size trucks. Tacomas are not Full-size so you'll be losing interior space.
IMO there's too much sheet metal. No plastic wheel wells. Higher risk of getting door dings, rock dings or even damage to the side of the bed from lifting anything over that high side wall IF you're standing on the side.

Yes I admit the "trunk" on this behemoth is awesome, but that's it for me. Try customizing the Ridgeline and I think you'll be laughed at. It's not inviting.

This is very inviting and says... Drive me!

I'm a very "physical" person. Looks mean a lot. The lines must be smooth and flow with the rest of the vehicle. The Ridgeline has no theme. It's just another truck.

Do you want a truck or not? As soon as you answer that question, your decision will be much easier.
