Temp Gauge jumps to about half, even in cold weather. Never changes.

So far I have disconnected both Temp Sensor and Sender. Engine light came on for both. Gauge still jumps to same spot. Anyone have any ideas?
When I turn off the key , needle drops to 0...
I would like to get it fixed, just not sure where the problem is...
    Thanks-

Do you mean when your driving it's a 1/2 or just with key on it climbs up? Mines always at half when running. Some folks run a scangauge to get true temps.

These gauges have a thing where, even if they're close-ish to half, they'll just jump to exactly half so the driver doesn't freak out if the gauge isn't perfectly centered. Get a scangauge or ultragauge if you want accurate data.

Stock gauge is not a precision instrument, base your temperature concerns off something that is.

There is a sender sensor for the cluster gauge and a sensor for the computer. The one you unplugged that turned the check engine light on is the one for the computer. It has 2 wires. The one that the cluster gauge uses only has 1 wire.
