It's my backup plan for unemployment. But really, I own a home in the city and 21 acres of land in the country. I'd love to just rent out my home and build a tiny home on the property that is off the grid. The only downside is cell service is not very good where my property is, let alone any sort of internet connection (pretty important for someone who does web design). It would be pretty sweet to be able to work from home, and off the grid.

I still have a long career in the military, probably another 16 years minimum, but my plan is to buy some land somewhere, plop a tiny home on it, and return to it annually and sort of turn it into an annual trip for my future kids where we make improvements on the land, dig a stream, plant some stuff, etc over the years. That way there's always a vacation home to escape to easily.

Yep, sounds like an awesome idea. I few acres of my property is open grass. I'd like to plant a permaculture-style orchard for fruit and shade. Right now it's just land, and it's been in the family for a very long time. I think it's time to turn the land into some income as well as a place to get away and relax.
