Exactly..I don't pay mine off fast only b/c I have 0.9 and $201 a month. I just aggressively pay my mortgage off. I wanted to refi into a 15 yr mortgage 4 yrs ago but had some big projects coming up so I did the 30 and just power-pay it. The rate difference was negligible for me..

I have leased 5 times in the last 10 or so years. My $.02 is from leasing experience. I have never put a penny on a downpayment(that's why I lease/ no out of pocket money). As others have said, tell the dealer you want something more to your liking. You can do it, but don't put anything or so much down.

At what point did you realize you didn't like it? Have you tried the manual trans? I love mine, and think its fun to drive. To each is their own. If you truly need to get out, stop wasting time here, and get to the dealerships, they are the one that will give the most important information.

Based on the majority of issues people are experiencing with the automatic transmission, slight misfire issues and overall dissatisfaction with the powertrain in this truck, I would reach out to Toyota Corp with your concerns. Explain your situation and see if there is anything that they can do.

i should look into seeing if i can terminate my lease early. thanks for all the advice. i knew you could pay off the balance early but it was good to get a bit of advice from this post. i would consider trading for a manual if i could.

iv leased 2 cars from toyota financial services. a subaru BRZ and my 2016 tacoma. i never put a cent down on a lease and found it to still be affordable and have them meet me at the price i wanted. I have a 39 month lease with 15000 miles a year allowance.

may have to visit toyota tommorow.

    thanks

I don't understand why folks stay in places they hate, I believe it's still legal to move to other parts of the country.

Has OP been back to thread?

I don't see his location, how his truck is equipped (tech package or 4x4?), what condition it's in (has it been crashed?), or what he actually paid. $40k, is that because he was upside down on his Jeep? Is the lease financed through TFS?

In my area assuming normal equipment and great condition it's wholesale $31.5 +/-.

Many reasons. I hate winter and the high cost of living in MA. But my parents are still here and are older so they need help. I've tried talking them into moving and they won't hear of it.

well when you have a career that you've worked hard for in one part of the country you gotta do what you gotta do

i've lived in the south before, and 2 other states in the northeast. i'd move back in a heartbeat if i could get a transfer but it's not that easy

I thought the transmission issues were a common glitch that is easily fixable through the dealer. I would keep it and enjoy it. :)

there isnt any real fix for the transmission issues in the auto.

few flashes are available but none of them really fix the main issue.

I've heard of the flashes, but what is the core issue you mention?

So it can't be all bad if that's where you make the money. Life sacrifices

True on sacrifices. I could afford to buy a house down south outright with the equity in this house right now even. My job wouldn't transfer though but I could get a job lined up. Family first.

My sister is still here and I'd miss the niece and nephews but I barely see them, they alone aren't enough to make me stay

i dont mean to hijack the thread.

but the flash is to try and stop the gear hunting on the highway, the delay from park to drive or reverse and a few other small issues with it.

the flash does somewhat help for a short period but as stated in many threads and most people believe that the autos were geared too tall. autos would have benefited from the 4.30 gears like in the manual.

also the 3.5 makes little to no power under 3400 rpm so when the transmission constantly tries to keep the rpm at 1600-1800 rpm it cant seem to have enough power to keep it moving.

also some people have said and proven that there may be some defects in the transmission valve body.

a lot of people have different opinions.. some dont mind the way it shifts and others hate it. most people who dont mind it live in areas where there are no hills at all or do not drive on the freeway for extended periods of time.

    anywho hope this helps
