OP, look at the face of your brake rotors in the front. Or look at the drums in the back.

Then come back in 6 months and check them again. You will be pleasantly surprised. Rust exists everywhere

    1) get over yourself.
    2) if you want some advice on a public forum have the back bone to take a little sarcasm without groaning about it. no one owes you anything.
    3) this is the most minute ‘problem’. you’re acting like an 18 year old with a glove box full of wet naps and a bed pan under your front seat by coming here asking what to do about a little rust. you know that thing you got called a warranty? use it.

    G’day :hattip:

I live two blocks from the ocean. If I don't drive my truck everyday, I have surface rust on the rotors.

Man, if this bothers some of you guys, I wonder how you would feel if you knew about all of the "cost cutting craftsmanship" thats lurking behind your sheetrock right now.

Is this the OEM roof rack? Did this come pre-installed or was installed later? I don't have a rack but I looked at an OEM roof rack install as well as delete videos (screen caps below - credit to LoyalDriven and 84hachi YT channels) and it looks like the diameter of that hole shouldn't be that large and there shouldn't have been any drilling.

Your pictures and OP’s pictures look identical to my roof rack that’s OEM. It’s the front driver side. The “drilling” is done on the assembly line and covered with a sticky clear jelly tape. When the truck gets to a regional distributor, the lucky trucks get their jelly tape torn up and receive a roof rack

Cab already has pre-drilled and tapped holes for mounting whatever your hearts desire. Every 16+ Tacoma has it hidden under a painted weatherproof tape underneath the weather strippings. There should be no need for further modification.

I offer an alternative, albeit, wild scenario: the rusted section is where a bracket should be. The abnormally large diameter hole with ragged edges indicate the bracket may have been detached, taking along the bolt and the surrounding metal.

I see a bracket? OP's post is missing that. I don't know. Something's not right with that ragged hole seen in OP's original post.

What’s surrounded by the red mark is the bracket
