    Update:

So my wife, baby and I went down to the dealership to sort out the Tacoma debacle.

Great experience, the sales manager was excellent, no bs, no stories, willing to do what it would take to earn our business.

And they had a 4runner on the lot (you know where this is going...) sooooo.... We bought a new 4Runner Trail edition.
Perfect for the trails and the family, and my wife absolutely loved it compared with the Tacoma. I know, I know. Don't
let the door hit me on the way out. Hey at least I didn't buy a Dodge right?

I'll still lurk, I have enjoyed being here. Thank you everyone!

I don't think you're being unreasonable at all. They tried to pass off a little buff and fluff as "fixed". You response to that was appropriate for a $50,000 vehicle I'd expect it to be perfect. Don't settle for anything less. Good luck.

Find the perfect one for you. Sucks you had to wait on the special order but f-that. For 50k it should include a 5.7liter haha. Don't settle for that you will always know it wasn't right and it will ruin all the fun and enjoyment of a new car

    That sucks man...

I know how you feel. You wait for what you want only to have some shit like that happen. Hopefully they will make it right but quite honestly I wouldn't want that truck now if it is like you say it is. It shouldn't have all those scratches and although it "can" be fixed you shouldn't have to get a new truck that "needs" to be fixed.

I hope whatever happens you get what you want. I would be pissed too.

No way I would pay new coin for a "refurbished" truck. They tried to screw you. Toyota Canada and whatever consumer organizations need to know of their jackassery. Some other honest dealership deserves your money. Sorry about the wait, I would be beyond livid. .

I'm feeling pretty upset at the moment... we just bought a new car seat for the truck, as we assumed we would have it for the weekend... And led bulbs for the interior, scangauge, car cam, middle rest cover etc...

Now likely we have to do this all over again. I just got back from the dealership with my body guy again. He said it looks better than it did, which I agreed with, but that they obviously didn't sand any of the deeper scratches out. He assumes they will tell me there isn't any more they can do and we will have to walk away.

hell no. New means NEW, right? you're dropping thousands and thousands of dollars on a truck and they can't eat a little $500 fix that shouldn't need fixing in the first place? it's your money you're more than welcome to tell them to fix it or fuck off.

My wife is looking at other dealerships right now. It means driving an hour to the closest ones, but there are a few in Ottawa we can visit.

Or screw it, I can just buy a Ridgeline in town... Just kidding :)

I would say thanks but no thanks. Another dealership should get your hard earned cash. That truck isn't one of a kind. You will get what you want.

I would have left for the cap alone...

I drove three hours away to buy my truck. And I'm still in love ;)

I always wanted to see a modded ridgeline. you know, lifted, big tires, sliders, the works. but there's no solid axle or frame...so no

The trust is gone with that dealership. I know that the truck is the one you have had in your heart and it's almost coming to be but if you EVER need to go back to them for something, can you trust them?

Trying to pull one over on you, trying to trick you and insulting your intelligence does not sit well with me. Where's the respect they should have for you?

You work hard for your money and $50k is not a drop in the bucket. Why give them your hard earned dollars only to be played for a fool?

I'm sure there are other dealers who can make this dream a reality and appreciate you coming to them to fulfill that need.

Find that dealership. Because in the long run, you will always have to wonder each time you go back for service.

I wouldn't even buy candy from those people after that. Go somewhere else where they won't try to screw you over. I know it sucks but walk away from that truck; if this is how you're getting treated now imagine how they're going to treat you once they have your money.

when I get any service, replacements, or upgrades I always go to certain local shops for one reason, trust. there's a certain relationship I have with them, though I pay more sometimes, I pay to know it's in good hands.

I see this as a similar situation in that you're paying 50k to not trust someone.

Dealers always want to find a free alternative so they can just get your signature. They can careless what your vehicle look like after signing. Dealer need to suck it up. One bad customer experience = many customer lost.

Not only that but the bed cap need to be corrected to what you ordered.

Just remember that your the one who's buying the truck and be paying for it. Not them. Dont let them talk you into garbage. I went to 4 dealership before I brought my truck. Ya, my credit took a hit from all the credit check but I am happy with the outcome.

Not to change the subject but a credit check is the very last thing that you should let them do when you buy a car. They will usually want to run one before doing all the bullshit haggling but I never let them and just tell them my credit is perfect. My credit is above 800 and I just tell them to figure off of that and that I will qualify for the best loan available. Settle on a finial price "then and only then" let them do a credit check.

    Just my $.02

I think you did the right thing. There's no way I would've taken delivery on a truck that had so many "issues". The camper top would've been enough to piss me off. If I order a brand new vehicle, it better be damn near perfect when I get it.
