I have a 2002 DCSB with the 2.7 in it. When I bought the truck a year and a half ago I was getting 18MPG and as of right now I'm getting 14MPG. There is definitely something wrong.

The past two months my EGR valve has been throwing a code. Took it off, cleaned it, replaced seals, and cleaned modulator filter and the code has since stayed away. I'm still at 14 MPG though. This is even at driving it as softly as I can.

Anyone have any clue where my gas mileage went and how I can get it back?

All suggestions are careful listened too.

How old are the spark plugs? How old are the shock absorbers; are they leaking fluid? Replace dry/brittle vacuum lines.

Replaced 02 less than a year ago.
Also, there's no codes popping up now.

Well, whatever the OEM from Toyota is is what I run. I replaced that 7 months ago. Checked it earlier today and it's clean as could be.

I use the fuelly app and tire pressure is steady at 28. The truck suggest 26 but that seems really low to me.

Fuel injector cleaner (techron concentrate), replace plug wires if you're over 150k, and consider replacing the fuel/air sensor.

I get 24-25 mpg in my 99' standard cab 2.7 manual on 33s on the hwy. When I first bought it, was getting 20-21. I thought I should be getting better then that so I began doing a few things.

I did a complete tune up, all fresh fluids underneath, new clutch, new exhaust and it bumped me up to 24-25. I run 28 psi as well, 285K on motor and runs like a champ.

Hope you get her figured out, 14 is horrible/unacceptable for a 3rz...

I don't know what I get in town really as I never use a whole tank for just in town driving, but even using 1/3 tank to screw around in the mountains after driving there and back on the hwy, I'm still getting 300 miles a tank to the 14 gallons.

Well I'm at 122k. I've done plugs, although it has original coils but they looked fined at 108k. Fluids are fresh so I really don't know what it could be. Sensors are all fine. I'll try 32 PSI on my drive. See if it changes at all. All I can think is that maybe that old nasty filter in the EGR modulator is blocking air flow. I don't know where to get one though, Toyota will only sell me the whole modulator for $130 and that's just stupid.

23-24 mpg on my '97 in town with 300k. you have a few things going against you right off the bat like double cab being heavier and I'm guessing auto trans so you'll probably never see the mileage us handshakers get. But that doesn't explain the sudden loss in mileage, doubt the egr thinger has anything to do with it and just because there's no light doesn't mean a sensor isn't bad. My o2 sensor was bad enough to cause a pretty good stumble on acceleration but never through a light. Start simple, check out all vac lines for cracks or leaks and work up, maybe a good tune up if haven't been done in a while, plugs, wires, fuel and air filters etc.

Just bought an 04 DCSB w/ 82k miles on the 2.7. My first tank I got 12mpg and I was steaming. Dealer still hasn't responded to my email. Anyway, changed the plugs and O2 sensors, air filter and got 21 mpg, not running a/c. Never had any codes either, but the upstream sensor was plugged all to hell and gasket was cooked to pieces. RockAuto for parts. Might want to check the brakes/rotors that might be sticking as well. Anything causing drag and working against you. Wheel bearings? Just throwing ideas.

    Pretty much stock right now
My mpgs just jumped up after changing out the downstream O2 sensor and the charcoal canister. I've the 2.7 auto on a ext cab. However, I was throwing codes for both. I'm now 21-22 combined.

16.7 MPG going to SC From FL. Still really bad in my opinion. And I understand I have more weight because double cab but it wouldn't kill my MPG like that

If you've never changed the rear diff oil you're in for a rude awakening. Go synthetic when you do.
