    I have an 09 Regular cab and I am 6' 5" and about 260lbs.

I am quite comfortable, but I have a small friend who rode in my truck yesterday and complained about never being comfortable. I guess its not a truck for smaller people...

my dakota had less room , people hated the seats , they were good for me. 5'2" to 6'3" is a lot of variety for any vehic to try n fit

Most cars and trucks we test drove had these types of headrest/seat back configurations. If you google any combination of "bad head rest" you will find tons of people complaining about the current trends in headrest design.

Yes, I test drove it (with my wife) prior to purchase, and just like the people who buy a truck knowing they will have to lift it or supercharge it or slam it to be happy, we knew we'd have to do something to adjust the truck to fit our needs. Now I'm looking for other ideas and/or people who have solved this problem in the past.

no, he used a reg cab rest on an access or d.c cab, he added 2 monitors to the front rests, not sure why he used a reg cab one. But the best solution presented itself there... Get a reg cab one from junkyard n try it, if it dont quite work, have an upholsterer remove cover and shave off some foam and recover it, it should still be safe.

Turning the front head rest backwards has worked for many other people and saves you the expense. The rear seat headrests of the double cabs also fit perfectly with no forward rake and provide improved comfort.

I was able to raise the headrest up a notch to clear the head of my 5' wife. The headrest is still behind her in a rear collision but it is not hitting her head in day to day driving.

Has she tried reclining the seats more than usual?

When you recline the seats having an angle between the seat back and the head rest seems to be more comfortable, since you tilt your head forward anyway to see in front of you.

Mind you, this is not an ideal answer, but may help in the interim.

Or, have you compared the 09 to 08 head rests? Might be able to swap them.

I bought a headrest on ebay for $20. They look similar and the posts aren't as thick but it does the job and doesn't look hokey. There may be better headrests out there. Another option is to have an upholster carve out an indent in the headrest, similar to volvo headrests. But at $20 i think I'm okay.

I have turned the headrest backwards for enhanced comfort when I need to take a nap in the truck. It's much better that way.
