Forgive me I am new. I figured a new thread is the best way to ask a question. Let me know if I am wrong. I looked around and can’t find anything on this question. If there is something please send me the link.

I have 09 TRD off road. It’s the JBL system. Well there is a terrible noise coming from the sub. Sounds blown out tbh. Not huge on sound systems. I’ve replaced speakers and head units in other vehicles and I tend to be a DIY guy... so if there is a way to fix this myself I will attempt it.

I’m not sure if I can disconnect the sub so it will stop making that noise like it’s blown out or if I take it out and replace it with a new one. I called Toyota and they were no help. Wanted me to bring it in. (I know what that means) I would just like some insight to see if I can disconnect the thing somehow and get it out of there without messing anything up. I don’t care to much for the “sub” but if I need to replace it I will.
Lmk if anyone knows or has opinions on this.

Aux back up lights, Bed lights, Re-located trailer plug, Good dooby, a.k.a. jumper cable mod, Heated seats, back up camera,
You could pull the sub out of the enclosure and unplug it

Look at the surround for tears, separation. Push on the cone. Feel for smooth travel in both directions.

I don’t think it would cost very much to just replace the sub driver.

I say grab a comparably sized sub from Parts Express making sure you match the sub impedance, slap it in, and be done with it.
