When my 07 4 cylinder is on the highway or over 40 mph there is a repetitive rhythmic tapping sound coming from behind the glove box. Unfortunately I cannot troubleshoot and drive at the same time. As the vehicle increases in speed, the tapping increases. Any advice or Intel would be appreciated as I am traveling across the country

Check your cabin air filter for debris. You could have an acorn in there.

Turn the blower motor on/off and see if that changes the noise.

    Those are easy to check

Check the splash guard in the wheel well that goes from the frame rail to the apron (by the shock tower). On mine the plastic pushpin fell out and it was slapping against the frame rail from the wind. It was loud enough to hear inside the cabin

Not my Taco, but my wife's prius briefly had a "ticking/soft knocking" at highway speed. Poked around and one of the MANY plastic shields was loose so at highway speed there was enough turbulence to make it flap rhythmically against the body.
