Figured. Hope you have some kind of wind farm in the apocalypse. Or maybe everyone will have Tesla Roofs by then.

Extra spacing for doubled skids under the batteries might not be a horrible idea, depending on how protected (I assume they'll be at least the 3mil steel plates of the body) the underbody battery protection is.
Cell phone/ radio/PLB. Dead pack / blown motor is just like losing a piston or other 'it's toast' issues.

Elon said he wants there to be a solar charging add on that could add 15-30 miles of range per day, that's pretty freaking cool

You and @tacof1seb are the heroes TW doesn’t want but you’ve decided it needs! You’re talking about peer-reviewed science to some people in this thread that just read whatever the hell is on TW plus the first ten hasty hits in google (which are invisibly customized based on their previous searches, naturally...). Hats off to you for trying, but you’ve got to know that it’s rare to see an epiphany. Keep watching for the tri-ellipses signal over the horizon...

Also, need a grudgy sidekick? We can roll in a Cybertruck. We can both read scholarly articles instead of driving because it has autopilot.

Edit: added @tacof1seb because I wanted to quote him/her originally.

Your equations a little off but I understand what you’re saying. It doesn’t truly calculate real world kWh but it’s close enough. According to everything I’ve read (I don’t have a Tesla so I can’t confirm) real world Tesla charging on a regular receptacle results in 3 miles per hour of charging. All I’m saying is that the charging technology needs to improve for EVs to be a viable solution for the masses

Sorry for mentioning my views buddy. And I’m not just someone who reads random articles. I’m actually a certified Chargepoint installer and have personally installed commercial EV chargers. I just don’t feel residential chargers are where they need to be for the masses

Everyone needs to read 'Consider a Spherical Cow'. That is all. First order approximation is '10 or less per hour' on 120v. Now, if that's all you daily, then all you need is 120v. High voltage/amperage chargers are great if you're doing longer miles, though.

Right on lol...wait wait, the "car running on water" is like the cliché conspiracy theory , right up there with flat earth and fake moon landings. Right on! Ahh I love this thread, so many little gold nuggets waiting to be found and cherished.

but seriously, yeah first law of thermodynamics and all, running a car on water won't work. To understand why it is recommended you re-attended (or attend for the first time?) most of middle school and the beginning of high school and pay special attention to the classes which involved numbers and the explanation of our natural world.

To be fair, it's also the media's inability to translate. Short range hydraulic vehicles (and hybrids) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydraulic_hybrid_vehicle , somehow end up being called 'running on water'. Flow batteries somehow get translated to 'salt water', as if you can roll up to the ocean and top off your tank.

A TW member did this and posted about it the the 3rd gen subforum. Surprisingly, it did not work well, the experiment failed.

So then are you planning on having your own oil refinery in the post-apocalyptic world?

The logic of the anti electric is flawless. Again, points out minuscule flaws to which the fuel alternative is x100 worse.

"I don't know, you can get a base, bare bones, single cab F150 for a little cheaper than that truck"...*ignores facts like; faster than many motorcycles, waiting at dealer for oil services is not possible, and gas stations will only be for purchasing chips, beef jerky and shit.

"Jeeeee that tow rating is misleading , bleh bleh range... dumb dumb... road rip" * Cyber truck proceeds to pull out $800 tuna boat, sitting on rusted out trailer, with flat trailer tires, in the mud, purchased on craigslist from possibly alcoholic previous owner...all with out burning the shit out of your dumb clutch or blowing the torque converter apart.

"der der der lithium..bleh bleh strip mining...pollution.. blah fox news, currety batter tech...jee not yet" *Consumes oil tanker worth of oil and olympic size pool of gas over life of conventional truck, all while ignoring economy of scale and progress of human knowledge

Sweet. So like a whole feild worth of corn or potatoes per month to generate enough feedstock for fermentation to yield enough ethanol to distill into fuel. Also all the energy need to run distillation...makes way more sense than waiting like two days for shitty solar panels or wind/turbine to charge up your car while u pick your butt and not blow up your shed

To be fair, WVO isn't that bad for the TDI either. But in a high fuel price world, and if you want to hedge that, it's a lot easier to have a bit of land outside of town with a few KW of panels, than it is to have a a soybean farm, an oil press, and glycerin and ethanol.
