It's a unibody, thats why it's triangular with sturdy ass steel; so it can have a full payload and tow without crumpling at the bed/cab area. Modifications will not be an option because all of it will mess with the electronics and range. My biggest question is whats the actual towing range.... Notice that wasn't mentioned, hmm I wonder why?

The model x is rated at 4980lbs with a range of 328 miles, and this tow test was done with only 2000lb trailer and had to be charged roughly every 100-150 miles sometimes even after only driving 40 miles......

Just what I've always wanted, a (literally) bullet proof heavy ass vehicle that can do 0-60 in under 3 seconds. And those low profile tires?

I couldn't give two shits how quick it does the 1/4 mile.

Does Elon not know what pickup trucks are usually used for?

didn’t know there were production issues with the 3? and the roof panels were put on hold due to the demand and focus for the 3. I believe they just started up the solar roofs a few months back.

He apparently thinks that pickup truck drivers need a bullet proof vehicle with supercar-like acceleration, low profile tires, and a Night Rider style steering wheel.

I have never once entertained any of those aspects when looking for a new truck.

And what do you mean "it can do it"? I never said it couldn't. What I said was that those statistics are pointless for most pickup truck drivers.

I'd like to know the cargo capacity, and what kind of range it has when towing 18k pounds.

Exactly. Tesla fanbois like to talk about the X being able to tow 5k while out accelerating a Lotus. BFD On paper that sounds great, but is it actually practical and useful?

I would argue, and so would the FLC boys (video) would agree, that it's useless as a tow vehicle.

And now we have a whole thread of fanbois drooling over this fugly ass truck that doesn't mention it's range while towing, or even how much it weighs. But thank god it's bullet proof.

I've ridden in Model X's, and they are bad ass, pure and simple. My next car (read: *car*) will likely be a Model 3, but they have yet to demonstrate that they have the faintest clue what the average truck driver is actually looking for in a pickup truck.

Yeah, when buying a truck, I want a truck, not a spaceship.

For how much bitching there is on this forum about slow acceleration, lack of low end power and shitty transmissions I’d think a quick 0-60 and instant torque is exactly what these people want. The base model Tesla (if those specs hold out) is faster and tows more than any Tacoma.

We'll in essence over ten years your ownership costs less for a tesla than a corolla. So the interior can't be that great haha

Obviously this is a joke. I think it looks super cool and futuristic, but we have all seen the real Tesla truck which is a bit odd, but mostly a conventional truck. This was a publicity stunt and everyone on the innerwebs is talking about it. No way whatsoever is that going into production...….but I think it would be cool.

Just like 10 years ago Amazon announced about a week before Black Friday that they would be doing drone deliveries "soon". Anyone with any sense of logic knew it was a stunt, but every news organizatio picked it up and ran with it......Millions in free advertising.

The Dodge Tomahawk, was the same thing. A Viper V-10 motorcycle? lol
