Lol that's because Tesla makes no money. Toyota does. Revolutionary my ass. They have one guy, Elon Musk. People who own Tesla shares better hope somebody like Toyota buys them, otherwise the ponzi scheme will eventually end. Yes, I own some shares.

I don't think sending a car into space(still don't believe, that fake news) was a practical thing to do. Fairly absurd for a "green company" to dump trash into space.

I also hear the name Elon Musk, way too much. When the CEO is known for their media shenanigans, instead of the products they produce. That's a product I don't need to be associated with.

Tesla is overpriced, poor quality, impossible to find service centers and parts. Stock price and company valuation are way inflated. Car manufacturers with more experience (Ford, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota), better access to parts, and international networks of service centers will run Tesla out of business in the next decade with their electric/hybrid vehicles. You heard it here first.

Ford is already talking about the hybrid f-150 by 2025.

My only theory is to stand out for attention since its a "new" thing. But I also agree. Prius, leaf, insight, BMW i3?, Model 3, just so many examples of looks like shit.

I really think to get more people to get on board with EV, they may want to consider looking like normal cars. Don't care if it needs a grill, put one on it.

I've been resistant to change at times, but I honestly would daily a 2019 Rav4 hybrid. Not a 2018 though. Gross looking.

And to add more, the Rivian? Looks like shit. I like the idea, but the front end is purposely offensive to all my senses. I bet if I even licked it, it tastes like shit.

I think it looks too much like a car to me. I also wonder what the range and towing capacity would be. I assume they would put real soft suspension on it to make it feel more "luxurious"

I find that if it's already a current production model. Once it's offered in a hybrid, or some other efficiency marketed term. That model looks worse than the other models of the same vehicle.

When I ask myself these types of questions, I often turn to Little Debbie snacks twitter page for guidance.

There is no battery chemistry in existence that would support this. Hell, if the temperature is reduced to around 0 C battery capacity drops by half. There are definite limits to how much energy a battery cell can store and how fast it can be charged without damage. Electric cars have been around for over a century but energy storage has always been the problem.

I like Little Debbie, brand snacks over Hostess, brand snacks. :notsure:

... and neither company offers Mexican snacks, like Bimbo.

The more I look at it, the more I think it would look really cool going the other way. As in, the front should be the back, and the back should be the front.

Maybe they should first try building a car that doesn't spontaneously combust.

It's more complicated than that. The initial charge rate is high but must be lowered as voltage rises to prevent cell damage. The battery cannot literally charge from a lower cell voltage limit to 100% in minutes; this would still take some hours. Tesla's own advertising material states that the battery can't be fully charged in minutes. Repeated deep-discharge cycles is also one way to shorten your battery life.

    "Supercharger Technology
Superchargers deliver energy rapidly, and gradually slow down as the battery fills. Your vehicle automatically alerts you when it has enough energy to continue the trip and with the extensive network of Superchargers along popular routes, charging above 80% isn’t typically necessary."

I'm so on board with an electric 4x4 but I need 400+ mile range in hilly terrain with 1000 lbs of shit loaded up. Make it happen!

    what’s with the Tesla hate?
This! Technology evolves and when we have a US based company that is actually leading in the technology, we should wish them the best. Come on, Americans!

They'll need a diesel truck to haul all of that electricity out there.

I mean I'm not against environmentally friendly cars.. I'll probably buy a Hybrid Rav4 when my truck is paid off so I can do even more stupid mods and not worry about breaking shit.

But this and the Rivian look like shit that is trying to be futuristic just for the sake of looking futuristic.

People are politicizing their preferences. "I hate this thing simply because a lot of people on YOUR SIDE like this thing." In other words, there's a lot of fucking morons in here who can't think for themselves.

As far as I know Teslas are super fucking reliable because they have so few moving parts and are fantastic cars for people with the right lifestyle (ie not most of us simply because they lack a lot of the capability we want).

    Question

Once EVs become mainstream, how much will electricity rates increase?

Eh, I might have bought it despite the looks, mostly because I could really use that funky storage locker between the cab and bed. :anonymous:

Ford just announced their investment into Rivian, I'm really hoping that it will not only find a price point that isnt crazy high, but also give it a face that doesnt look like it belongs in Logan's Run.
