Tesla style head unit

Sounds great and I don’t think you’ll regret it at all. The more I use and understand how this unit works the more I am happy I purchased it.

 

Well, I went ahead and ordered this. I have not read anything about my questions and maybe one of the experts can help and this will not need to be asked again. See my picture in my sig.
I have a 2014 Tacoma with entune and it is not a JVC head unit. Is there anything I need to let Aucar know? When I ordered I did check the box for No JVC.
I also purchased the wireless dashcam and was hoping to move it to the window of my Trailer when towing to get a better view, I will have no issue getting it set for power at either location. Just wondering if the wifi has the range. The trailer is 17'.
Is it possible to have maps preloaded?

 

As far as the maps your inquiring about if its gps maps the unit comes preloaded with them its called Here I go navigation. The unit should be plug and play all you needed to tell them was if you had JBL or not which seems like you did. The wireless dashcam will really just depend on how strong a signal you can get from your trailer. My trailer came with the Furion wireless backup camera preinstalled and It works really well and to boot I can also watch the hitch connection now through the backup camera on my tailgate.

 

so want to get this. but after reading all tghe issues that keep coming up... ill just wait and see if it gets better

 

Today I did receive a tracking notice from DHL and an email from AuCarauto customer service email stating that it had not been working and that they were sorry for the late reply. I should see delivery of my unit on the 6th! This makes me feel better about the purchase but still wondering how easy or difficult things are going to be after the install is complete. The good thing here is there has already been a lot of discussion about some issues and potential fixes which will be a valuable resource.

Randy, sounds like you know the unit pretty well. If I am running a app on my IPhone to see the transmission temperature will I be able to get it on my screen. Is there anyway to set a transmission temperature gauge and oil pressure instead of tach and speedometer?

 

There is the car link screen mirror app that allows you to mirror your phones screen to the unit and see whatever is on the phone. For me I am running the OBD Fusion app and I bought the Toyota pids extra for $9.99, it gives you both tranny temps at the pan and converter, as well as a bunch of others you can monitor too. I have a wifi obd reader that allows for a larger version of obd fusion right on the screen or you can mirror the phones screen as I said it would just be a much smaller image, about the size of the phones screen. As far as changing the tach and speedometer I think those two are directly built into the system so probably not, maybe @arcenik can chime in on that one I haven’t really looked into that as I don’t have them on my screen at all right now. I am hiding those and the vehicle logo so I can use the entire screen for live wallpapers instead. I find the speedo and tach useless features as we already have those anyways.

 

I just put in an email request to Eric in tech support regarding the sppedo and tach gauges, as soon as he answers me I’ll post it here.

Nope and I don’t believe any of them will. @arcenik posted a link a ways back for that adapter.

 

Back when I purchased my truck I had plans to build something very similar to this unit but never got time for it. I might have to add this one to my list now!

 

Thanks, Randy great info again. I have already received my ship notice. I have also emailed Aucar with a fast response. They needed more info and pics of my unit because it is a Gracenote unit and looks like two different picture that is in their instructions. I have downloaded multiple apps and will also try the one you suggested.

 

As far as I know there is no way even with sergeys firmware to add different gauges to the console screen. You only have the option of the speedo, tach or the inclineometer. Would be nice to see other gauges.
