I think a manual for this device would be very helpful! Is there any word on one?

Is there a hookup for an external microphone, it would mitigate sound pickup problems. I have been mulling this purchase, but am waiting until all the bugs are gone...very nice unit...

I'm with you. I thought unit wasn't working right but after messing with settings it's fixed.

Without this thread guys like me would be completely lost! I'm not that tech savvy, I can usually stumble through stuff like this but it leaves a lot of unanswered questions which leaves me sifting through the thread and hoping to find the answers!

I’m fairly certain I’m gonna get one of these at some point, but sheesh. Glad I came across this thread.

Reminds me of a home theater system with five different brands of components, and a smart remote you bought at Best Buy in the bargain bin to control at all.

Commence with the “OK boomer” replies… :D

I don't think so but if there were a manual I could post a definitive answer that question!

I don’t think that there is but either we need a software method for boosting the gain on the mic or a way to add one. I would assume that we could disconnect the mic and hardwire a different one to it ie: clip on sun visor style mic. The more I think about it though I think it is a software issue because when i was testing it even if I literally put my face to the mic it did not make a difference.

@arcenik do you have input on the hands free mic issue ?

Make sure the sync contacts in your phones bluetooth settings, for the head unit, is on or highlighted or they won’t show up in carplay

I just sent Eric a message about the mic issue.

Is this with carplay or the android blue tooth?

Well I think I am going to have to return this thing it just has way too many problems :

    1. Temp controls are backwards.
    2. The built in hands free calling mic is useless, nobody can hear me while driving.
    3. I'm not getting any ODB data.
    4. The interaction with apple car play is really bad unless you leave it in that mode and do nothing else. IE: while car play is active (which it has to be to 100% of the time to place or receive phone calls or use any of your apple apps ) if you switch over to most of the other apps they will not work because they require wifi and if car play is connected wifi for the android items is not / can not be at the same time. You have to go digging through menus to establish the wifi hotspot connection to your phone and it drops the car play connection to your phone when you do that. So, at that point if you receive a call your have to physically pick up your phone and talk on your phone. After you have gone from car play to an android app it really does not want to reconnect back into car play mode, after that you have to dive back into the settings and turn off the wifi connection to your phone, pick up your phone and dig through it's menus and tap on BT again to get the Z link software to reestablish the car play connection....a few times it has not worked at all unless I stop and turn the truck off, turn it back on a let Z Link it auto establish the connection.
    5. I've tried via my wifi at home and at work ( both solid signal strength outdoors ) and have not been able to use the tablets direct wifi connection for IE: downloading new apps etc. I have to establish a hotspot connection from the tablet to my phone manually to use the Google Play Store or even to use apps like Youtube.

may need an app, but you also need an XM antenna. Does it come with that?

    1. Did you do a reboot after setting the ac controls? Some times it takes a hard reboot also.

I am waiting for a resoponse on this issue.

    2. I would check the mic quality using only the android bluetooth. Turn off the auto connect in zlink to do this. Zlink has known mic issues. In the new software called Tlink, you can actually set the volume for calls.

Eric did mesage me saying there is an input for an external mic, but i cannot find it on the unit. Hopefully he will get back with more details soon.
I also asked for an update to zlink, Hopefully this will fix the issue.

    3. As discussed in this thread you will only get RPM and speed, are these working in console?

    4. This will be a limitation with any headunit. The head unit can only connect to one wifi device at a time.

    5. I have never tried a direct wifi connection but i know alot of devices do not support this, at least an Iphone does not.

Ill post once I hear back.

I don’t believe you need an xm antenna to tun the app, you should look that up on google play store and see what it says.

I can sit in my driveway and connect to my head unit to my home wifi with no issues at all for downloading anything, I simply go into the settings and search for available wifi and find mine input the password and boom it connects right away.

if you are using the xm app it does not need an antenna, it is cell data. I think you can still also save money by only having an xm mobile plan vs the auto plan. I know bitd the cell plan was half the price of the car plan
