If you use a paper clip there is a hole under the mic. There is a small reset button in there. Dont stick it in the mic hole you could mess it up.

Eric is going to send a pic of where you can connect an external mic.

Eric has not sent me anything yet & hard reboot did not fix anything. I noticed this morning that a lot of things within settings are not working ie:

in the install set menu anything that is an on/off selection does not work the only settings that work are the volume gain adjustments

in the user settings menu display speed & sound attenuation when reversing do not work. the correct setting appears to be lit/selected but the function itself does not work

I am selecting save and reboot when trying to make any changes.

Does that firmware update void any warranties? I know on the Joying site it says any third party firmware will void all warranties

I don’t know about that but I am wondering if it’s conflicting with the original software and causing these problems.

I have not but reading through Sergey's website the issues that I have are not specifically addressed by his list of issues that his update corrects...and I should not have to buy $100 software update from a third party to make Aucar's product have basic functionality o_O

I should have done more research on Aucar before purchasing this because I had no idea that their " company " is just one guy in China with a fake name who does not respond to requests for service / support and that this product is basically a poorly scabbed together tablet and apps with a ton of software problems.

I agree no one should have to pay extra to make anything work right. I do find it interesting that you seem to be the first with an older model having problem's, you know no one else yet other than you has purchased this unit for an older model tacoma so its really never been tested and clearly seems to have some major problems with the Tacoma prior to the climate control update from Toyota. Aucar wasn’t aware that my year had the recirculating air button that after the temps dropped you have to push and hold the button for more than 2 seconds to keep it on, they sent me an update for that.

My replacement unit had just cleared customs in LA so should have it in a few days. For those of you wanting to return a unit, but making sure you have cleared all your information and what you’ve done with it, there is a factory reset option but not the one in user settings, all that does is reset the units settings back to factory. All you need to do is go to settings then android settings. In the search bar on the top type in reset and you’ll see an option pop up for factory reset. When you choose that option you’ll then see an option for a full wipe of the system, this is what you want. It will ask to confirm the selection and this is not reversible once it is done thats it. It will then be like when you first turned it on the first time. Thought some of you that might return yours or like me need a replacement that you won’t want your personal information still on it when you return it.

I'm on their web portal with "Emma" now about to pull the trigger on this for my 2005 Double Cab with JBL.....she stated sergey's software does not void warranty. I read through most all 22 pages of this thread and didn't' see many older Tacos in the thread. Can someone bullet point for me a couple of things.....what data I might get out of the ODB connector with this HU for my 2005 (thinking it will just be RPM and Speed) and specific reasons to go out and spend another benjamin on Sergey's software? Those of you who did sergey's software seemed to think it was a game changer. Also what's the best way to get that software? Some mention Facebook group, others mention a website.....

I have a custom stereo built specifically for the Tacoma, the faceplate matches the stock unit except is has a nice 7" screen, GPS, DVD/cd rom player, USB and aux hookups, came out in 2015 or thereabouts, everything works but the mic, tried several, none work. It was around $550 at the time. So I can get the mic fixed for about $100 or get a newer unit. The Tesla unit seems to be buggy right now, and about $820 shipped and you need the third party Sergey software update to get is kinda right. The Joying 10.1" unit looks like a viable option, and for about half the price. I am now on the fence, get a unit for about half the price that works out of the box, or get a possibly superior unit with bugs that need to be worked out...
