That would be nice the closest I get is keeping the bottom bar and hiding the top seems ro be the biggest you get.

Does the carplay box get bigger if you hide the top bar? The pics I have seen just leaves a blank space above the carplay window.

Has anyone muted the sound from their system? In some way, I have seemed to do exactly that. Everything is tight pins are in place, but I stopped getting radio, aux 1, and 2. I'm not sure what I need to reset. I run XM Sat via one of the aux inputs and a one terabit drive full of music via the USB aux port. The radio tuner stopped at the same time that's why I am calling it muted. Any help would be great.

So this morning I was still thinking about this and went out to see and if you leave the bottom bar there and hide the top it does push carplay to the top. I am using theme 43 for landcruiser but I don’t think that would matter.7FCB9B5A-6A11-4FEB-8A62-C2800E8551BC.jpg

I've been following this thread and decided to buy the Tesla style head unit. I have it installed and have downloaded and installed the latest firmware. Installation was pretty straight forward and went well using the information sourced in this thread. I'm having a couple issues however:

    1. I'm on the latest firmware and still getting the scrambled screen.

    2. Lost hotspot / tether yesterday driving to work. I use wireless Carplay. It completely shut down. I rebooted my iPhone and head unit several times and did not fix. I let the truck sit for 8 hours and started it back up and the hotspot started working again... not sure what's going on there. I've emailed Eric for some guidance. Wanted to share in case others were having similar problems.

I went through that and ended up getting a replacement unit that works very well

You can mute the speakers in the eq settings. I would check there to see if thats the issue.

I had issues today with it staying linked up with carplay that just started as of today. I did see a scrambled screen once after installing the latest FW but haven't seen it sense.

That sucks, I really hope they take care of this issue. This is the second one now on this thread.

I went out today to play with the test unit with sergeys firmware. It does make carplay bigger but it stretches the window instead of resizing it. I really would like full screen CarPlay or at least without the top bar.

I did notice that my first unit was from April of 2019, my replacement I just got was from November this year. I’m really hoping this makes a difference in that scrambled screen. My first started having problems the second day or basically when I had time to really check it out. It would eventually come back to normal but never went away. I’m hoping the difference that Sergey noticed with the different screen on mine will fix that problem but we will see.

Go to user settings then system info and there will be a date in that screen. Sergey told me when I sent him that pic, for the firmware update of his, that basically its the date of manufacture for the unit or when software was installed. He said with my updated screen I shouldn’t have any more issues.

Order update. For those curious about orders and how long they take. Ordered Dec 15, received on the 22. So not too bad. Website stayed in processing state. DHL updates came through pretty quick. Delivery instructions weren’t followed but other than that it was fine. Installing tomorrow. Decision on the Sergey software to be decided.

I got my head unit yesterday. During installation today I missed the a/c plug when testing. However my steering wheel controls worked. When I went back to check and see (didn't see the jumper for the older/ newer tacoma) I got the a/c to work but lost steering wheel controls. Now everything is plugged in as it should be but no controls. I'll be contacting seller but has anyone had this issue or might ot be something that could be fixed with a few update or patch? Otherwise I'm loving it and the sound quality with me having the JBL upgrade is day and night from OEM.

I would say if you had steering wheel controls then lost them either you missed plugging something in or possibly didn’t push a plug completely in until it locked in place. I can’t imagine you’ve used a wrong harness as only one fits for our truck, I also have a 2013 with JBL.

It's what I originally tought and went back and it's all tight and where it should be. Not a deal breaker for me as I'm pleased but would be nice not having to extend to the corner of the screen to adjust volume.

That is exactly what I did. Sorry I did not post sooner. So far so good with this unit, this thread has the best info that I have found.
