Tesla style head unit

You would be wrong. I had to warranty mine with Aucar. Took 6 weeks. I had to take it to PayPal dispute and even then they pushed it till the very last day. I had to constantly push them to get any kind of action. It was ridiculous.
If you can get a warranty thru Amazon that would be the way to go.

Well that's the answers to question, To Buy or not to Buy!
Sims like there is alot of people that fall in love with the unit when they first get it. But latter on they stop being reliable and turn in to a headache To try to warranty it!
And some one please correct me if I'm wrong.

 

I would really love to see a larger manufacturer/branding take over this unit. It has lots of potential, but it's current price point and lack of support should be a huge concern. Lots of other android units out there for hundreds less, and are a more reliable product

 

The one from Amazon is prime and ships from Amazon. So returns will should be easy and painless

just noticed another fun glitch…when i am on a phone call the HU cuts the air con down to min. display still reads same level though. as soon a i hang up it ramps back up

 

That's a weird one. And i wonder if it's a glitch or a feature?? I can see it being a feature by lessening the ambient noise for the phone call. My hu dims down the volume of stereo when I put it in reverse.

 

Mine does the same thing when just connected to bluetooth but doesn’t do it when I answer a call through carplay

 

Mine does it this way also. I let Aucar know, hopefully the catch it in the next update.

 

Mine does it also at times. Seems as if I noticed it once when Zlink started up it went into the lowest fan mode. Hit the buttons to spped it up and it was fine.
I also found out something else today. If you plug in your iphone to one of the USB cables and use carplay (start up zLink) you can then use your personal hotspot wifi since carplay does not use the units hotspot. This seems to be somewhat of a workaround to not being able to run the units hotspot and wifi at the same time. Anyone else already doing this?

Well, it does seem to be a bit of a crap shoot but I ordered a unit today. Looks like the more recent ones are coming in with fewer problems so, hopefully, most of the bugs have been remedied. I hope so but I’ll let you know as things progress.

 

I think Android 10 and larger storage would put me over the fence. I struggle sometimes with the old high quality head unit with a Maestro I have now, but it's the devil I know.

 

Has anyone tried installing this on a 2008 Tacoma? I noticed all the people who have this have a newer Tacoma since the layout is different and 2009 models actually came with usb and Bluetooth which are utterly lacking in 2008 and earlier models. Plus the bottom looks much different.I'd love to see how this looks on an older Tacoma.

 

I put one in my 05 looks great.
