I have few more quick questions:
Do the buttons on the wheel to change track/station, control volume etc still work with this unit installed?
And how well does this unit handle temperature extremes?
also curious if it comes with usb of sorts in case you don't want to use wifi or to charge.

also according to Alpine Tactics there is a new model coming out.

It's the same unit? "NEW: Android 9"

I guess local support is something though. But they are likely going to be a proxy to the Chinese mfr if a real problem occurs.

I want to give a big shout out to Sergey Kozlov. He spent a great deal of time and walked me, step by step, through the firmware upgrade process. No way in hell I would have ever been able to do it in my own and, man, what a difference it made in my AuCar unit. Sound quality and functionality is off the scale.

    a huge thanks, Sergey!

Probably updating the Android OS because linkswell seems to be running Android 8.1, behind all the other android hu out there. The Aucar runs Android 9 and Joying/Dasiata run Android 10.

Ya it's the OS update. They state on the link it runs Android 9. The 4th gen runs 8.1.

Ive been looking at this unit for a while. The set up scares me. Also, since I have the back camera in the mirror, can it be connected to this unit easily (easily means, plug a wire). I'm mentally disabled when it comes to electronics. I can unplug and plug wires that are the same color but don't ask me for more.. lol..
Also, is there an app to see transmision temp, MPG, etc?

No. I got in touch with Sergey Kozlov and he spent about 3 hours with me updating the firmware. I am eternally grateful because it now functions beautifully. I would have never been able to do it on my own. Perhaps there are many much more knowledgeable than me, but no way I could have done it.

It can be done but it’s not that easy. It requires a harness that costs about $70. I have the harness but, reading the instructions, I have not had the balls to try it. Considering the difficulty getting this thing up and running I think I’ll just keep it as it is for a while. Also, yes, there is app that shows a lot more information. There is some discussion about it in this thread, most of which I didn’t understand what they were talking about. (My brain dead factor is also pretty high.)

I have read all the way through the instructions for the Linkswell unit and I can tell you, though in many ways, it looks the same as the AuCAR unit, they are very different. If I was back to square one and comparing the 2 units side by side I would buy the Linkswell unit even though it is more expensive.

Thank you for the response above. Now regarding this post. What's the difference in between the Linkswell and the AuCar ??

It I may ask, who from and where did you get that quote. Sounds like it may be a good way to go if you ask me.

You might also try contacting Sergey Kozlov on Facebook and see if he can help. I can’t begin to tell you how much help he was for me.

To me the silly thing is definitely not worth $1,600. Once the novelty wore off I don't use any of the "features" at all anymore
