ok, thank you, that link works.
I have the camera in the rearview mirror and wanted to do this mod.
Has anyone done this with a 2012? I don't like that it is described specific to the 2013 model.

If anyone is interested, I have my OEM Head Unit, 2013 with JBL, that I no longer need. On/off knob is sticky but, other than that, works perfectly. If you are interested hit me up.

Seems like a mistake. Says supports 720p video, but also says resolution of 1080p. It is possible it could be the case, where they block off screen real estate for other controls while video is playing but also seems unlikely. If you have a 1080p screen, you want to kind of shout to the world you can play 1080p video.

I had a similar issue on the other side of the head unit, Temp +/- didn't work, seat belt light off, and no backlight on the buttons - as well as a dash indicator about SRS error (continuity).
I pulled the unit and found there is a small cable feeding each side for those buttons which I'm guessing had become disconnected when I installed it.
It's a black cable that runs from the back of the head unit, on each side, towards the buttons with a small white connector.
Once I reconnected the plug it all lit up.

Has anyone managed to find a solution to the rear camera causing a cel? I'm about ready to light this thing on fire

Having read 49 pages worth of posts….I’m kind of still in the camp (undecided) that I was in to begin with: I need (yes, actually need) to replace my factory head unit in my 2010 DCLB. Additionally, my fan switch is faulty. Imagine my delight when I found an enlarged screen head unit that included new fan controls.

What say the owners of this unit? I’m a CarPlay user. Is the functionality of this unit ultimately worthwhile or is it permanently buggy? If I don’t go the AuCar route…I’ll likely go with an Alpine big screen unit. Input appreciated. Thx all!

I just ordered the 11.6" joying unit for my Jeep. They now have an upgrade firmware available to get it to Android 12. just so you know some more options

Is your assessment that the joying (due to updated firmware) is likely more reliable than AuCar? Appreciate the input. This format seems terrific…just a little concerned that product testing/reliability will be substantially lower than mainstream head unit manufacturers.

My second unit has been flawless. I use CarPlay almost exclusively and it hooks up pretty quickly everytime I get in my truck. After the initial problems with the first unit getting solved I’ve got nothing to complain about.

What was wrong with the first unit? How difficult was it to get it replaced?

Good to hear about that!! Sounds like the qa may be getting better.

I haven't upgraded to the newer firmware yet. Just my observation that Joying may have updates/support more than Aucar.

Does it come with the upgraded firmaware? I really want this unit, but since I'm electronic impaired, borderline stupid when it come to technology, I'm afraid that it will end up in a corner of the garage if it doesn't work correctly.

No. I believe you'll have to install the upgraded firmware that's available on their support page.

Screen quit. Took a PayPal dispute to finally get them to ship a new one. Their tech support seems to be to wear you down so you just give up trying to get help. But the PayPal dispute got them going. The time difference and using what’s app was also a challenge. Though I did this as covid was still messing up their country. Could be easier now.
