All depends on who's in the room in the final minutes. Certainly hard as a buyer to put a number to it.

I mean, can't you almost get a new model 3 for that price?

Yea so? Then you would have a Tesla model 3 and not a Tacoma?

I mean no offense to you at all and I understand the “free labor” that is not in a lot of peoples minds when looking to buy this as it stands.

If it indeed sold (to me) for $10k, I’d be excited about a project to get some practice with an EV conversion, I’d want to add CCS to be able to road trip it and potentially turn it into an AWD track “car”.

As it is, one of the “certified bidders” asked in the auction if they could drive it back to Phoenix… and who would service it. EV conversions are still in a position that the owner has to have patience and some basic knowledge in electronics and such to be able to diagnose if something is happening without having to tow anytime something comes up (like just having to “reboot the computers” by unplugging the 12V battery like my production Leaf sometimes needs.

Anyway, I think it’s a cool project and I hope you find that person that wants a 1st gen Tacoma (or small pickup) EV conversion. They will see the value of your asking price of $25k.

yeah of course. But most won't see that as an advantage is all I'm saying. The bed lost a lot of functionality due to the batteries and the taco is in no way or shape quieter or more comfortable and lacks all the features of a model 3. So just gonna be a hard sell is all I think give for 5-8k more you can have a lot more for you dollar.

Still cool as hell. But I'd bet take some time to find a buyer that'll pay that much. So wasn't surprising it didn't sell is all.

The inherent problem with an auction is you don't need the right person in the room, you need two of them. I'm sure private sale will have better luck, just gotta find the right buyer.
