I have been on forums where people post that before you buy you should get on a forums and ask questions not after you buy. Soooo, I am asking before I buy. So you are giving me shit for following people's advice of getting real issues before I buy. So in your eyes, asking questions before or after I buy I am a dumbass?

I would not say that REAL driveline vibrations are the opposite of irrational.

    1 Mine doesn't do it.
    2 Mine doesn't do it.
3 Mine doesn't do it, because OVTune fixed the ECU software and allows my motor to run without the factory tune muting the performance. big big difference, not subtle.

Most people simply choose not to buy if they find a fundamental characteristic that they dont like. If you dont like it, dont settle. Keep shopping.

I was looking at the 2020 Tacoma to see about any changes, and all I could find was a power seat. Nothing on the Toyota website yet.

I do think a lot of people are sensitive about their trucks. The 3rd gens are far from perfect, but people want to act like they are. Jumping down a posters throat to confirm whether things are normal smells of owners that are getting too defensive.

The fact is, the 3rd gen has some quirks, but it is a very good truck, and the 3rd gen has continued to improve with each model year. And the quality is still far superior than the competition.

I could see myself having similar questions as OP if I drove a new generation vehicle that drove much differently that the former gen that I owned.

I believe the Ecoboost F-150 Limited was about half a second faster to 60 and down the quarter over the 6.2 Silverado.

No vehicle is perfect. Especially not this vehicle. But, as it's been said before, different people have different perspectives. Grandad taught me to drive on cars and trucks that were built in the 70s. My first car was a 1986 model year, my second was a 1984. We drove around in Troopers, Samurais, S10s, Rodeos, Bronco iis, and Explorers that would all threaten to roll over if we so much as sneezed while holding the wheel. The incredible advancements that cars have made in the years since, in suspension, horsepower, and reliability, are greatly more impressive to me than the changes in tech that adorn the dashboard.

I spout all that nonsense because this is my personal perspective. When I say the car is perfectly fine, it's because things like rough shifting and slight vibes were not the topics of conversation we used to have. Back then we griped about the trim pieces just randomly falling into our laps as we drove. Further back we talked about how likely the car was going to leave you at the side of the road. To my perspective, clunky shifts and rumbly driving aren't even worth a mention. It's a truck. Unrefined discomfort are pretty much to be expected, or at least that's the way it used to be.

It's fine to ask a question. Asking the same question twice, however, can sound an awful lot like whining. So we've established that the vehicle has an unfavorable issue. My point is, now that we've agreed on that, what's the plan of action? Fix it, leave it, or live with it?

I think the OP comes across as having already judged the 3rd gen as shit compared to his '13 "what happened to Toyota quality since my '13?". That gets everyone's hackles up from the start. Add in the join date and he looks like a troll of which we see plenty.

You are right, it does appear trollish. As for the join date, wrecked truck, rental car until they cut me a check and then I am walking. I got to get a truck fast.

It's all good as long as you can take a little heckling because of it. Definitely try a couple more Tacoma's but it could be that they aren't your thing. Thankfully there is a much bigger mid-size market today than a few years back.

I just don't like Nissan, Dodge, Ford. Maybe Chevy. That is about it. I really don't like a Tundra. Does not look good, trying to stay with Toyota

I wish I had done exactly what you’re doing. Get online and start asking questions. I’ve owned 7 Toyotas, no cars just pickups or 4Runners. Some bought new, some used. Always loved them.

Then I hadn’t had a Toyota truck since 2006 and decided to buy a new 2017. I assumed my previous 6 Toyotas have been great, a new 2017 must be even better. WRONG!

The 2017 Tacoma was the worst vehicle I’ve ever owned. And I’ve owned 37 vehicles over the past 30 years. I started reading and posting on this forum and found the thousands of people who also didn’t like the 3rd gens (unto that point, 2017). Then you find the few jerks who constantly bash anyone who doesn’t love a 3rd gen, just as you have encountered here.

Move forward and it seems the 2019’s have improved a little but still have issues that owners shouldn’t accept as “normal”. I ended up selling my 2017 after only 6 months losing $4,000. I hated it enough that I was willing to lose money just to get it out of my sight. I still have a Tacoma, just not a 3rd gen.

So my advise is to keep looking and asking questions until you find what you want and like. As for the jack asses on here, just ignore them.
