too bad you wrecked your good old 2nd Gen...I don't know what to tell ya. I drive a 2017 SR with a 2.7 and 5 sp... I have zero complaints. Try something else I guess. Now that Toyota quality has gone downhill for you.

I have two Lexus suvs and my Tacoma does not vibrate. In fact I have a silver Lexus (wife) and a MGM Lexus (got for my mom), both the same years and are amazing vehicles. I have two 2018 Sports 4wd again one silver sky long bed (mine) and a dcsb mgm for my son. They do not vibrate and as anal as I am about my vehicle there is no vibration, hell even mine is lifted and still vibration free.

Ha! You're anal? Any rattle, squeak, vibration will absolutely drive me nuts. In both of my cars. I will literally spend hours looking for it. The wife is smart. If she hears a squeak in her car , she makes me drive her car. Smart woman.

I absolutely love my 2019 and I came from a car so it’s important to remind myself this is a body on frame truck and it will never drive as smooth as these newer cars.

If I’m not picking It has the buzzing vibration in the steering wheel around 2k rpms thats engine harmonics and the slight shake on decel but this isn’t a Lexus.

Toyota didn’t put the refinement into this truck like they do with a Lexus and that’s fine with me bc I love this truck!

If little quirks like this bother you then you will hate the Tacoma.

If you want a rugged reliable truck that will take you wherever you need to go you will love the Tacoma.

I'd say the shimmy/sputter feeling is the direct injection at idle. Is normal, most DI motors do this. Sit in an audi or vw. Makes the whole vehicle shake. And the 3500 rpm is like vtech yo. The vvti kicks in then creating surgy power delivery. Feels like bad turbo lag before you got that rpm range. Hence why the motor makes the extra 100hp/tq above that range.

You hit the lottery then, as a glass smooth 3rd gen Taco across the entire range of speeds would be highly abnormal based on the statistics.

It is what it is OP. Some will bash the truck others will defend it. If you don't like it, you would be a complete moron to buy it. Don't let anyone talk you into buying something you don't like.

I've had my truck a year and a half and now I have to check for a vibration that I didn't know existed but now I'm told that it does.

I test drove a new 2019 TRDOR Tacoma last Saturday and did not feel anything the OP stated. I stopped at various stop lights in town as well as driving it 70mph on the highway.

This is why I tell myself to stay off the forums. Iv had my truck a full month and didn’t notice anything until I read it on here. Sure enough next time I drove the truck I was paying attention and looking for it and sure enough there it is. If it wasn’t for this forum I never would have even noticed it.

In this case I’m referring to the buzz sensation in the wheel at 2k rpm or so.

My understanding is they all have it to some degree but I never would have noticed it if I wasn’t “looking for it”.

Maybe its an Automatic or Manual Transmission thing, my truck is very smooth, no vibrations, no buzzing or vibrating pedals or steering wheel.

Quite possible. I know when I put it in neutral and decelerate through 25-20 mph, the vibration is nearly undetectable compared to when its in drive.

Now that you mention the 2k buzz in the steering wheel, I did feel that in the different Tacoma I drove at another dealer. Then I drove a PRO. It seems to have less vibration on decel. It is still there though, but better. Maybe by a PRO?????

Any thoughts if it is worth it? It has the cool Fox shocks and 1 inch lift and the wheels and skid plate, better seats. It is nice. The blue is very bright though. What the heck is that big elephant nose on it?
