Test Drove 2010 4Runner Trail 4x4

Got bored Yesterday and drove by Toyota, decided to look @ an FJC and the new 4Runner... Well I drove the new TRD FJ and didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Too boxy I suppose. Then I saw a grey Trail 4Runner...


Initial thought: This thing is sexy.

Getting inside, I loved it even more. The interior is spacious and extremely comfortable. The one I drove in particular had a touch screen navigation with a back up cam, which could be useful I suppose but I don't need/want one. The rear seats fold completely flat, making camping in the back extremely easy. There is also a "shelf" that slides out of the back of the 4Runner, a good place to set up crap for tailgating or whatever back there.

Driving it... Wow. The new engine is rated at 270HP I think, with dual VVTI. It was quick, but didn't feel as quick as my Taco. Perhaps I just wasn't hard enough on it. The suspension was soft enough to be extremely comfortable, but still sporty enough. There was more body lean than my Taco on the freeway on ramp, but not much. Also, this one had a manual transfer case, which got me very excited.

Unfortunately nobody at that dealer new shit about the 4runner and had no idea how the extra off road provisions work on it, so I'm off to go research it.

Honestly, it was my favorite vehicle I've drove to date. I can't imagine how kick ass one would be if completely built with bumpers, a lift, armor, ect. In a few years I may consider swapping out my Taco for one (blasphemy, I know), it kicked that much ass.

And this is the one I drove. With me Fiance chilling along side it (she loved it as well).

 

i almost jumped in one the other day at my local dealer but it was on the truck getting traded lameee

 

Heck ya, she loved it. She knew who was gonna get to drive it most once the noose was tied around the neck...

Actually my wife wants one as well.

 

lol, she just got an Integra that she has a long list of mods she wants done to it... I'll get a build thread started once we begin working on it.

But now we're tossing around the idea of swapping it for a Celica... Friend sold us the Integra for way to good a deal to pass up. $1,800 for a '99 with 100K miles, new battery/brakes/windshield wipers/fully serviced and a clean title.

 

My daughter had a 97 Celica. Bought it off eBay. Best vehicle I think I have seen in the last 10 years. Just kept on rollon on. Finally, her finacee was driving it and got T-boned. Walked away without a scratch.

 

I sat in the new 4-Runner at a car show in January. I have to agree, the interior is very nice. If I could afford one, I wouldn't mine having one in my driveway.

 

I absolutely loved my Integra. Sad to sell it, but I had to put some money down on my Tacoma somehow!

 

that is def a nice rig. is that like a dual fog light setup or something?

 

did it have 4wheel drive? what did they want for it? not parting w/ my taco but interested for the wifey.

 

All the Trail models are 4x4. This particular one had a sticker price of just under $41,000.

Not sure about the lights though, was wondering what the deal was as well.

As I previously stated, this was by far my favorite vehicle that I've drove to date. I loved everything about it.

 

my dealer has a trail4x4 4runner.i would buy one in a heartbeat it but out of my price range

 

Saw one at a dealer here in San Luis Obispo but decided not to even hop in it because I didn't want to get bombarded by desperate sales reps.

 

my mom just got a new 2010 trail edition and i love driving it when i get too, really smooth and responsive and the steering is sooo much better than her 2000 land cruiser was since the 4runner isn't all time 4wd.

i still love our 2009 Limited edition Tundra more that thing is ridiculously fast but i'm not on the insurance for that so i've driven about 3 times haha

"Four Wheeler of The Year" in FourWheeler magazine. it's got some electronic suspension goodies as well as the new Crawl Control feature which Four Wheeler was very impressed with. toyota slapped some 265-75 goodyear MTRs on a couple of them and took them on the 'Con for testing. i like 4Runners...but i gotta have a bed to haul stuff. maybe the next gen Taco with incorporate some of the new features.

 

The square light closer to the middle is a turn signal.
