Rear main seal? Can be done in the garage in about 4 hours and takes a $10 seal puller tool.

 

I dont know where its coming from have not gotten under it to look. oil is only fresh on the ground after I drive. it only shows a leak on the floor if I drive it. if I let it sit.. it doent leak

 

If it's a 4.0 jeep motor and it's got 100k + miles on it, rear main is the likely culprit.

Yep. The 2 piece seal design is a blessing and a curse. Easy to change thanks to the design, but likely to fail thanks to the design.

 

Well, good chance I’m pulling the trigger on a Gladiator tomorrow. Making the road trip in the early morn. If all goes as planned I’ll be coming back the next day in a Gator green Rubicon…

 

Let us know how you like it! The thought has definitely crossed my mind as a former jeep guy, but I do like my 6ft bed on the tacoma.

I vastly, vastly prefer solid front axles though.

If I'm getting a offroad anything from FCA it'll be a ram powerwagon. Gladiators are so hideous and not even a 1500 truck. Power wagon has a lot of the offroad features but it's a 2500 truck

 

That's what I think when I see the price on these Gladiators-its about the same as a power wagon (last time I checked). The sheer size could be a limitation for some, but otherwise it seems better in every way.

Was driving out on Hole in the Rock road recently and had to take a piss. Dude in a gladiator Mojave pulled up as I was looking at a rock in my tread (thinking it was a nail) and asked if I needed any help.

Long story short we chatted for a while. He had a nicely modded one with 37s and it changed the whole look of the vehicle. Looked really sharp.

Best feeling to be able to do a small lift add 37s and no cutting or hammering and fully flex without issues... solid axles are OK too lol.

 

Good luck with the new ride, stop by once in a while, gloat or cry either way. Personally just not a fan of that design of truck, I would have maybe looked at a Ranger if not going with the Toyota. In the end it's transportation. I go back to what an old mechanic said once, ''if it tit's or tires, sooner or later you will have troubles with it and I will deal with the tires, the other your on your own.''

 

So after weeks of searching for a clean TJ after being screwed over by a previous seller, I'll be picking up this beauty today.
